Good bye Sackland... I wish you were still here!

Unfortunately I made a serious mistake that cost me my 500+ hour Animal crossing New Leaf town, Sackland. I play ACNL daily since 8/02/13 so naturally I have the digital copy so that I will never be without it.

Long story short, my 2GB SD card was too full to download my Club Nintendo Platinum prize which is DK Country Returns 3D. So I bought a new 8GB SDHC to transfer my data over to. I read that I had to format the SD card so this is where my mistake comes into play. I thought the 3DS could format the SD card so I proceeded to the System Settings and did a System Format... yep you read that right! I actually formatted my 3DS system memory and not the SD card.

You can imagine the absolute sickening feeling I got when I frantically popped my 2GB SD card back into my 3DS only to find that everything on my 3DS was gone! Steps taken, game library records, Mii plaza puzzles, Mii spotpasses, streetpasses, acheivements, old swap note messages, DLC, E shop games and my beloved ACNL Town.

The rest I can live with and some stuff I can recover like E shop games and maybe DLC, but the ACNL loss really stings! I couldn't sleep last night as I felt like I had accidentally ran over a family member or some tragedy to a similar degree. I know it sounds silly, but I never thought I would have such strong feelings for save data, but I guess I'm a weirdo like that.

Any way, I just wanted to say thanks to all here who helped me make Sackland my daily happy place and say goodbye to my beloved town Sackland... and my Dreamies: Tiffany you kept the gossip good, Pashmina and your style, Ken you crazy chicken you, Rodeo the coolest neighbor ever and Cobb, my right hand man... I'll miss you brother.

Thanks guys for all the kind words and donation offers, but I'm not even sure I want to start another town. The loss is so devastating that starting over seems too much of a hill to climb. I'm not sure I have the energy to put into another town.

Lol, good question. My name is Isaac and my co-workers at a tattoo shop started calling me Isack... then it turned into just Sack so my nickname at work is Sack and that led to Sackland being my town name. Kinda goofy for a town name, I know. Lol

Aww... dude! You aren't weird for being attached to save data: when I was younger, my brother saved over my Pokemon save data too often for me even to cry after a while. The first time, though, was the worst: I had beaten Pokemon Blue and my brother wanted to play with my high level pokemon... I didn't walk him through it because I was smart but dumb as a kid: I just thought he'd know what to do. But no, he saved over my data over.
He did that on my first Emerald file, too, and maybe that's part of the reason I could never beat League in Emerald: it wasn't my first team, so it didn't matter. It'd never be the same. *creis*

So I totally get what you're feeling. You connected to your animals, and now they've all moved at once. I'm sorry for your loss~

I decided to give it one more go and I started a new town called oaktown!

Encouragement from you guys and the lack of ACNL in my life these last 2 days has really made me want to try the grind one more time. I would gladly take anyone up on their offer of donations of any kind, but with or without any donations I plan to forge ahead, create a new happy place and hopefully reunite with my dear villager friends soon.

I honestly know that I would cry if that happened to me. I am extremely attached to my town. I have even become strongly attached to my second town which was intended to be for cycling but has not been used for that in months.

Thanks guys, yeah anything would help as I am trying to make up about a year and 2 months worth of collecting. I have recently obtained these items:

All fruit except Oranges and Persimmons
Silver Fishing pole, Silver Shovel, Silver Slingshot, Silver Net and a regular watering can.
50k and a hand full of fossils.

I'm so sorry to hear about this I wish you luck if you ever decide to get another town! And you are definitely not crazy...when I was younger, I cried when I deleted one of my game files and I had to have my sisters do it for me XD
