No. I don't have any of the golden tool DIYs actually. Unlike previous games, gold tools just seem like wastes of gold nuggets. I suspect that Nintendo made golden tools breakable to force players to use the DIY mechanic often, but it really just moots the point of having golden tools in the first place, especially since gold nuggets are pretty valuable / can be used for lots of other things besides tool-making.

Yeah, I like the crafting mechanic but the golden tools should have been unbreakable. Actually, I think the one I would never use is the golden axe. I never even have to cut trees down in the first place.

Yeah they're pretty pointless. You can just pick up someone else's golden tool for the Nook Miles anyways. I watered someone's flowers and they gave me a golden can so I could water their black roses and next thing I know I got the Nook Mile achievement for it.
I might make some for decoration and just leave them.

I used the golden axe and golden slingshot when I made them, but didn't bother making them again after that. It'll probably be the same story for the other 4 golden tools, too, since gold nuggets are hard to obtain and I don't really want to use them for a tool that will just break.

I won't use gold items. If they were unbreakable, then I would. Isabelle congratulated me and said I could use a golden watering can. But I'm not going to. I haven't gotten any DIYs or anything for other golden items yet. I'm not sure how.

I've never crafted or used any of the golden tools in New Horizons. As others throughout the thread have said, it seems like a waste of gold nuggets. They do indeed seem pointless this time. Gold is too valuable as both a crafting material and as a potential currency for me to want to bother crafting a tool that will inevitably break. Considering it takes a while to acquire their recipes, they should have been unbreakable as a sort of reward for playing the game a lot like they used to be in previous games.

I've only made the golden watering can to water my black roses. Then I use a regular watering can for the rest of my hybrids unless I'm watering people's flowers I also use my golden one. I have the recipe for the slingshot but I don't think my gold nuggets are worth for it. I've also given up on re-crafting tools that I just buy them from nooks.
Wow, never knew it affected drops. I am curious to try it, given I have a lot of gold nuggets and don't much care for the gold craftables. Just gotta actually get the gold slingshot DIY
Nah, they seem kind of pointless in New Horizons. Maybe once I've gotten the rest of the golden DIYs or something and even then I'll probably just keep them in storage as "trophies" rather than use them since they don't really do anything useful.

Even if golden slingshots increase the likelihood of better drops, I still don't think it outweighs the gold nugget cost. The possible drops from a balloon are not really worth that much compared to a gold nugget (with the exception of the gold nugget drop, obviously). But even then, I'm still hard-pressed to find a reason why using a gold nugget on a slingshot is worth it, much less any other tool.

Where did you read that it makes you get make drops? I don't think that is true.
