Golden exterior

I've recently started getting enough HHA points to get the golden exteriors - but I can't decide if I want them or not. On the one hand, they're pretty cool - they're super exclusive and the best exterior you can get. But on the other hand, I currently have a full mermaid exterior and I really like it, whilst the actual design of the golden exterior doesn't appeal to me that much.

What are your thoughts on the topic - do you have it, or plan to get it once it's unlocked, or not?

I'm not sure exactly, but I have 500,000 and I've unlocked 2 of them?

I have the full mermaid exterior, and I could never get rid of it, I love it. (My main room is mermaid interior, as well, so.)

I play on 3 different characters though, so my boyfriend's character has the gold exterior. It looks really good, but I think it suits male characters better than female ones. (Just my opinion!)

ohh I was having this debate with myself as well! Mermaid exterior appeals to me personally better than the golden exterior, but I kinda want a super fancy exterior for my mayor's home too and that's the golden exterior is going for...Let's just say that when the opportunity comes I will definitely get it, but it could be for the mayor's house, or for my other hotel themed house...

I might do as you suggest - I also have another character who's male - but I want my mayor's house to be the best in my town, because that's the one that gets sent out via streetpass - so if I'm gonna go for gold, I want to have it on my mayor's house.

I have 3 characters. My mayor has gold exterior. My second character has my favorite exterior: fairy tale. And my third character has my other favorite exterior: black and blue exterior.
Online guides say you need 1,100,000 HHA points for the complete gold exterior. However I remember I passed at 1,650,000 points.

I unlocked all of them to be a completionist at it... went from 200k HHA to 1.1mill over night with Fairy Tale theme. It was a pain in the ass putting my house back together tho.

I use the golden door and the golden roof currently.
I like all the golden outside stuff... but loathe the golden exterior and was greatly disappointed... makes me think of the yellow brick road that leads through the pits of hell... but that's just my opinion. XP
