Gold catalog badge update??

I am curious with the addition of all the new items with the update, have the requirements for the gold catalog badge (80% of items) also changed?? Meaning will you have to acquire or catalog all this new stuff as well to get it or will you still just need 80% of the original New Leaf game's items? I'm not sure if anyone has this answer, but I am thinking about holding off on updating till I have that gold badge so it's not even MORE impossible & gueling to get. lol

I really didn't think about that being a problem. I just hit 50% of my catalog, so I might have to settle for a silver medal if that's the case. :O

I don't know if it will really change the catalog badge requirement. I assume that the badges are based on the number of items in your catalog based off the original catalog rather than a percentage of the updated catalog. So if you needed 1,000 items (I don't know the real number) before, it is probably still 1,000 items except that there are more items you can get now. Changing the badge requirement was probably not a high priority of things to put in the update.

That's good to hear, because I wasn't psyched at all with the prospect of having to find a bunch of new items. But it does make collecting the new items seem a little, well, pointless. xD

Hmmm. Well I'll be curious if anybody gets an official word on if any badge requirements were changed/updated. Does anybody have any recommendation for where/how to ask Nintendo directly?

Okay, but I can't imagine that being the case, because the new items were probably added to the catalog as normal items, and they probably wouldn't just hard-code the number of items that were originally in the catalog.

I'd be interested to know about this, I completed my gold badge before the update but I'd like to find out if the requirements have changed for my second town. I would assume so?

I just got my silver badge like a few days after the update, so either that's not the case or Phineas was just holding it off for a while. Not 100% sure. I believe someone stated there was like 500+ items added to the game, so hopefully we won't have to grind even longer lol
