God of War (PS4)

Hey everyone

My sister recently gave me a copy of the 2018 God of War for PS4 that she accidentally ordered two of and now can't return. Only problem is, I've never played any of the rest of em . Just wanted to know if this was a direct sequel to any of the other games (ie. I'd have to have played the rest in order to understand this one), or if its possible to play this one and understand w/o necessarily playing others .

I'm obv going to play it as the reviews are amazing nd its a game ive always wanted to have a go of, but just thought I'd ask a little first
