Glowing spots now spawn on cliffs?

just got the update and the first thing i noticed was a glowing spot on 2nd level. i was surprised it spawned on an area where it used to not!!

i remember someone telling me before that it could spawn anywhere, but on my island it NEVER did on 2nd and 3rd levels. honestly, if it did i would love someone to prove it because it’s been said by multiple people that it only spawned on ground level.

I recently reset my island so I’m catching up to present date and haven’t had the updates since July but I can confirm having a glowing spot on the second and third levels randomly several times.

I strangely haven’t even come across any glowing spots for like a week! Which is also extremely odd because we used to get 2 a day as both my bf and I play on the same island.

.....as I was typing this I realized that maybe the reason we haven’t had any glowing spots is because our island is COVERED in mannequins as we are trying to make a rock garden. So I guess the mannequins stop the glowing spots from spawning as well as the rocks lol.

so am i really that unlucky? i’m not lying because i play everyday for months and there’s now only TWO glowing spots open on my island, and if a hybrid or fossil spawns on that open 3x3 area, i won’t have a glowing spot for the day. for the last 3 months this is what’s happening, until today.

yes it needs to spawn on an open 3x3 area in order for the money tree to be planted. that’s why i only have a few spots where it could spawn lol

What surprised me today was that my golden spot spawned hidden right behind a tree - they were always in the open to be easily seen, but today I was surprised to find it in such a hidden spot.

so then if it was always possible then maybe they changed some rules. (regarding space issue) because i didn’t change anything on that area it spawned today.

The glowing spots have always spawned for me everywhere (2nd and 3rd tiers included) since release. The only time they stopped spawning for me was when my flowers grew all over my town because there weren't any spots that would fulfill the requirements left.

I haven't noticed any different behavior so far.
