Glitched hats

There's something weird going on in my husband's town/game.
So, this is my character in his game (I have my own game though).
And as you can see, there's a missing hat/headgear at his Label's shop.
It's actually there, but invisible.

And this is what happens when I try them on...
It wasn't like this when we started the game. It just happened one day.

Hubby and I tried to wi-fi to check if we can see the hat using my character in my own game.
Here's what it looks like:

In my husband's game, we can't see the hat. But in my game, it's there! (WEIRD)
Also, he pressed Y accidentally and a dialogue showed up saying he can't move stuff while a guest is over. The character can sense it's there! So I had my character leave the house to check if we can pick it up BUT no. (Pressing Y this time doesn't do anything.) Guess that hat will stay there forever.
Oh well..

We've looked all over the internet and haven't seen anything like this.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

but no? hopefully it's not to do with getting involved with other players who have tricked the game in some way
i remember in ACCF if you went to a hackers town or something, these hacked hats would show up in your able sisters
most probably it's to do with your own game file though

It was really funny at first but it's starting to annoy me now. Sometimes I just can't get to Gracie's on certain days and it's frustrating.

are gracie hats n stuff normal if somebody brings some over from their town or if you wear them in a different town or no

This glitch is actually from my husband's town (which we share). I have my own game though. When we wi-fi, the hats are only invisible for him but not for me.

They're still invisible. If you were wearing them, they'd be invisible for me but not for you.

No, just some hats (and headgears). Ow, is there no way to fix this?

I'm also wondering if I restart the town, would it fix the glitch?

we dont know, this is teh first ive heard of it
if you can get items n stuff back easily or if you just started, go for it.
if you dont want to lose your tree and villagers n stuff, then idk,

Also: If you save and quit after putting on glitch hat, does it stay glitched or turn back to a hat?

So this is a very rare glitch.. My husband doesn't want to reset because it has been his town for a long time and don't want to lose everything especially his dreamies.

But I'm afraid that the constant force closing will eventually lead to data corruption though so I'm hoping there's some other way to fix this other than resetting so I could fix it now while the save game is still there.

Lol, my husband is kind of okay with being bald in the game since he shaves his head irl.

Sadly, they're still invisible even if we save and quit.

If you have a catrigdhe, clean it with a q-tip, also clean the slot for the cartridge, if you have a digital copy you could try backing it up and restoring it.

Thank you. We tried removing the cartridge and cleaning it but the error and baldness is still there...

We bought it off a local game store called Datablitz. I don't know what you mean by missing texture. It force closes when I try to enter Gracie's shop and browse the catalog for hats. Yes, hats will be visible for other players but not for me.
