Does anyone have any tips on getting pictures from your villagers? I know if they ask for fruit if you give them perfect fruits it'll help a lot. Anything else I should know?

I'd like to know too. Is it really linked to giving them excessively good items? I know I'm at 100% friendship with most of my guys.
Tipper just randomly mailed me hers one day, same with Mallary, and I don't think I'd done anything special for them previously.
I've been hoping to get one from Egbert for ages but he's not coughed up the goods.
Marcel wanted a 2x1 item today and I gave him a non-reorderable (mermaid sofa), got a pic in return for that.
It's confusing.

I haad a villager send me a picture when they left. When I sent them a good bye letter, with an item. So I wonder if that triggers one.. I keep forgetting to try it again.

I've heard superb coffee beans are good for boosting friendship. I have tons of villager pics but I didn't do anything particular besides sending them letters every day and talking to them when I felt like it, sometimes doing tasks for them.

Perfect fruits, doing favours for them in general, talking to them a LOT (like until they ask you to leave them alone each day) and obviously when they leave. That's not guaranteed though. You can also send them long letters with gifts in them.

I'm really not sure, it might just be random?
I got my first villager picture a few days ago from Alfonso.
First I started talking to him until he starts thinking and shortly after that he began randomly coming to my house.
When he would ask for fruit I almost always gave him regular fruit and I never gave him special items.

Sounds like it's truly just random then, once you've got the villager to 100%.
More anecdotes: I got two from Mallary and two from Henry, without giving them anything special (Henry wasn't even in my town very long). Egbert however has been in town from the start and has eaten rather a lot of perfect fruit from me, and still hasn't given me a picture.

I've received five villager pics; Peck x2, Olivia, Flora, and Marina. Each of them gave me one when they left. Peck gave me one as a gift, though.
I think the trick really is to just do the tasks they ask you to do. If they ask for furniture, give them the style they like. If they ask for a fruit, give them a perfect one.

just some things that have worked for me..

when they ask for any fruit, give them foreign perfect fruit.

when they ask for furniture, give them customized items OR an item from their desired birthday gifts list, located here.

run errands for them, play hide and seek, and let them visit your house, etc. if you can't go to their house at whatever time, be up front and say no instead of saying yes and then not showing. that lowers friendship, while saying you're busy does not.

buying their items or letting them buy stuff off you DOES NOT, in my experience, increase friendship. and saying no does not lower it.

when you write them letters, it doesn't have to be an extremely long letter. my usual letter consists of "best friend", "friends", "present", "*villagers name*", "thank you" all on different lines. this always works for me and they mail me nice presents back. you can also attach a piece of furniture, but not attaching one also increases friendship.

to check friendship levels you can..

stand near them (not TOO close, but so you can see them in the frame) and call out their name with the megaphone. if they bow/wave to you, you have good/high friendship with them.

be in your house. if you have a maxed or near maxed friendship level with a villager, they will come over uninvited. (i.e., HEY *mayor name*!!! COME OUT AND PLAY!")

that's about all i can think of at the moment. i hope this helps someone. good luck with pics! <3

That explains one of my villagers coming in uninvited. Thanks. =D I guess I'll try to give the more attention then, send letters and give them nice things.

I've only gotten two pictures one from Lobo and one from Celia, both when they moved out. I bought my other ones on this site. I maxed out a few my friendships but I haven't gotten their picture yet.
