Getting more gemstones!

Is there a way that I can get more Gemstones than just one a day? I want to change my furniture color. Can I get more from the island on a tour or something?

If you have a silver shovel, it's possible the money rocks instead of spitting out bells will spit out gems instead. Although it's not common.

If you get the silver shovel, your money rock will randomly spit out gems instead of money. I'm thinking maybe 2x a week? That's the only way I know of getting more gems (other than buying/trading for them with other players, of course)
