So is the PS3's, but the PS3 service could use Wii's as toilet paper. No, Wii's online service is not even worthy enough to be PS3's online service's toilet paper. PS3 at least has voice chat. And no friend codes. And no frustration just trying to connect.

Oh, and Xbox Live is well worth the price considering how amazing it is. For whatever reason, Nintendo won't just all-out copy it.
