Please before you reply to this thread, please watch the video and you'll see what I'm wondering about.

After watching the video you may have seen the video has the same beat and music as a well known song, My Country tis of the. (SP?) But is true that a German man created the music and the Germans, English and Americans adopted it for victory or a special occasion?

oddly enough, this used to be the anthem of Prussia and yes, the writer of My Country tis of Thee (Samuel Francis Smith) used the exact same rhythm and pitches, but rather than translate it from German, he just wrote an entirely new thing. As for the video, that song didn't catch on with the Germans, so they decided not to use it. My Country tis of Thee is inspired by the Prussia anthem and German unofficial anthem at that time.

I'm not sure what this guy is talking about. Both this song, the Prussian national anthem, and the American "My Country Tis of Thee" (which was adapted by way of a German version) are all based on the anthem of the United Kingdom and its territories, "God Save the Queen/King". >_<
