a random modern sofa and polka dot tv = =

So normally I don't really care if villagers start changing out their furniture pieces, but I'm a huge fan of Japanese themed homes, and I really really want to preserve Genji's house to its original condition. Yet today when I walk in Genji's house, to my utmost horror I saw him replaced his tatami bed and biwa lute with a friggin modern sofa & a polka dot TV!!!!

NOOOOOO!!! What the heck were you thinking Genji!!! T________T

Have anyone ever experienced similar feelings like what I'm going through right now?? :( I know it's just a game but I can't help but to feel sad & angry about this..

I'm terrified Molly will change her house, it's so adorable and I'm afraid she'll put something ugly in it :(

To my horror I walked into Pippy's room and she had a SLOPPY TV. Same with Erik; he had a sloppy dresser and he got rid of it!! To this day I'm trying to buy Pippy's sloppy tv :/

I dislike when villagers do this, too. It especially bothers me when Diana wants to eff up the theme of her home by placing something like a trunk measure or a totem pole in it, replacing any of her original items. Then I just sigh and think, "well...maybe she's just expressing herself." lol no but it is annoying

I've noticed how villagers have a tendency to dislike their beautiful, original furniture series, and love to swap out them for ugly random stuff from everywhere. Do they not have a sense of fashion for home decorating?

given how gracie is apparently the biggest fashionista there, i wouldn't be so surprised tbh

Kabuki did that to me a lot...
I would always send him new stuff though to make him put his house back together. =3

You could always try filling up all your Retail slots with overpriced items to prevent your villagers from using it to buy/sell furniture. That's what I've done and it helps keep their homes original. Unless they randomly run up to you and hand you some of their furni....

yes omg every time my villagers have me give presents to other villagers I'm afraid of what butt ugly furniture they're gonna send sigh.... I always have to try to get them to give me the ugly furniture/clothing afterwards :C

haha :). I actually like most of Gracie designed dresses and all the furnitures except the card series, which I found to be completely hideous

ugh that's so much work >< I stopped sending gifts to my villagers altogether 1 month into the game...

But.. that's exactly what I've been doing ? Genji still managed to swap out his furnitures. I just don't know how he does it

Aah I completely forgot that villagers could get new furnitures from their neighbors too..sigh.. i see there's just no way to prevent them from destroying their beautiful themed houses..

I know!!
Genji put the pink game shelf in his house and I wanted to facepalm so much ;-;
I tried to send him a remade exotic chair and the next day he put it up on Retail.
Whenever they invite me to their house, I buy something just so they can get rid of it.

You could always censor the gifts they have you deliver each other. They'll be mad for about 10 seconds that you opened it, but hey, if it keeps Genji from displaying that new Lovely kitchen it might be worth it.

When Genji was still in my town, he had some random furniture replacing his default ones too. He had the extinguisher, a fossil and left platform are the ones I remember.

Now that I have Ken and Blanche, both their houses are also Japanese themed, so I try to bring them furniture that matches. Except both have shirts up as furniture, I'm planning to buy those when I'm invited to their houses.

When i had Genji in my old town on Christmas he wanted a friggn butt ugly race car set....

And then piece by piece his wonderful home fell apart

Soleil has almost everything in her house replaced with the most random stuff EVER. Her original house was really cool, the exotic theme. Now? She has dinosaur skulls, bugs on ranch tables, a turntable and an effects rack. I think she's getting into voodoo or something.

I wound up taking a bunch of Lolly and Truffles furniture because they had the Lovely and Modern Wood sets I wanted, and one time Tangy gave me her Cabana Dresser that I was never gonna use...I need to mail it back to her and get out Frank's wrestling mat.

I'm always afraid I'm gonna make it look worse if I give them more themed items.

@Rika092: yea ugh my villagers and their horrible taste in everything is what ruins ALL their homes sigh... it took me months to get them to sell me the nasty stuff they wanted for christmas... and now I'm just mean and tell them the clothes they get from other villagers is ugly so they don't go around wearing clothing that's too terrible lol

If it ever gets too out of hand you might be able to fix it if you want! When a villager invites you over and then asks you to rate their house you can tell them it's terrible they should reset it! I decided to try it because Walt was being the biggest hoarder ever and I wanted to know if he would change anything if I told him is house wasn't very good and when I visited again it was back to the way it was when he first moved in! ^-^%

lol would that affect your friendship with the villager though? I'd be crushed if Genji started hating on me since he just moved to my town and I haven't gotten the time to build friendship with him ><

I hate when they have something that doesn't seem to fit their personalities and then they won't sell it to you. I mean ELMER, of all villagers, has GRACIE stuff! And he won't sell it to me. Pfft...or maybe I'm just jealous. But I get what all of you are saying. They ask for stupid stuff, get rid of stuff you get for them that THEY ask for, and then their houses look like crud. :(

I just tried this the other day! Both stitches and merengue got so upset with me because I told them their clothes are "meh"..haha! I was hoping that they would initiate a dialogue where they ask if I could recommend another shirt for them.. :3

Omg omg does it actually work? Would I risk my friendship with Genji if I were to tell him that ?? I've always been so nice to all my villagers by telling them the white lie that their houses look awesome ... -.-

Flurry has a princess chest that I really wanted, but she refused to sell. Also Merengue is unwilling to let go of her sweet sets, so I've just come to the conclusion that villagers will never ever get rid of their GracieGrace stuff
