Garden gmones

I have 2 gnomes, the one with the yellow hat/green shirt I got from Nooks and a friend gave me the one with black hat/sunglasses. my store has sold the garden gnome multiple times but always the yellow hat/green shirt. Does each store only sell one version of the gnome or have I just been unlucky? I'm trying to get all of them. Thanks

You only get one color variation for furniture items per island. To get others you have to get them from villagers, balloons, Redd, Wisp, and of course other players.

There are several cataloging services in Nook's Cranny on this forum, plenty of people have the full set of gnomes.

Yeah usually each island has it's own colour variation for items. Sometimes villagers will gift you variations that aren't available in your store.
Guess that is how Nintendo is getting you to trade with people

I thought this only happened with the Nook Miles items. What gives? I have 3 gnomes for some reason. A red hat, blue hat, and a rebel gnome.

You likely got the gnomes from somewhere or someone else. The ones in the store are always the same.

Hm I've only gotten a sunglasses gnome from a balloon so far so I hope my Nook gnome is a different color. I guess it's technically possibly to get all color variations of items with villager gifts and balloons etc. but it would take waaay longer than trading online.

The one that immediately comes to mind that I've seen is the Diner items and the Laptop in different colors in my nook's.

Even those seem to be locked to one color. I got plenty of green toy boxes from trees and balloons, and it happened with a few other items as well. I think they added Redd's overpriced furniture to give you a shot at other variations (wouldn't make much sense otherwise) but that doesn't do much either.

As I don't trade and don't go on many Mystery Island trips, an overwhelming majority of my items in my catalog were either bought at Nook's Cranny, the Nook Catalog, or came from balloons and trees.

I have lawn chairs in different colors, rice cookers in different colors, stew pots in different colors, DJ turntables in different colors, formal documents in different colors, and writing posters in different colors to name a few.

Honestly, I never considered the fact that the color of items could be pre-determined.

I believe it’s only book mile items and shop bought items that are colour locked.

this means you can get other colour variants from balloons, villagers or shaking trees. Or of course, trading on here!

i laughed at this conversation lol
because yeah, it's so messed up but at the same time you can't blame them for taking care of business.
it is annoying though because we don't have cyrus/retail and matching furniture is essential to the game, even part of mechanies (HHA)

and yes for me at least, items are generally color locked. i have yet to the see the espresso machine or cute music player sold in a different color.
