Have you guys seen the #gamestruck4 challenge thing? It's pretty interesting to see which games have influenced/been meaningful to people so I figured it'd be cool to see what people on tbt would pick.

"The #GameStruck4 challenge asks gamers to choose four influential video games that define them"

My four games would be

1. Animal crossing WW/NL - animal crossing was my first video game ever, and new leaf got to to join TBT which then introduced me to more Nintendo/ gaming things such as directs and E3

2- Pok?mon Soul Silver - First Pok?mon game and first game I sat down for days straight and binge played whilst never getting bored

3- Breath of the Wild
4- Splatoon
Both introduced me to new game genres that I otherwise wouldn't have played and encouraged me to try out more games I wouldn't expect to like

What games would you pick? Obvious they don't have to be all Nintendo games.

In this order...

1. Danganronpa V3: I COULD WRITE AN ENTIRE ESSAY ON THIS GAME HONESTLY. This game has impacted me in more ways than I ever thought it would. It was for sure a crazy experience, and I hate/thank it for that.

2. Super Mario Galaxy: My first Mario game and was the first "real" game I ever beat. I can promise you that I have 100%ed this game at least 10 times. It also has one of the best OST's of any game so that's cool too.

3. Dance Central 3: DON'T :lemon: TRASH :lemon: THE :lemon: GAME :lemon: IF :lemon: YOU :lemon: CAN'T :lemon: GET :lemon: GOLD :lemon: STARS :lemon: ON :lemon: OMG. The first 2 games are important to me too but since you can import the songs from the first 2 games over to 3, it seems like the obvious one to pick. Even 4-and-a-half years later, I still play this game at least once a week.

4. Pokemon White: It's pretty much the only reason I had friends in middle school. What's great though is that even now in college I'm still friends with most of them, and I have this game to thank for that.

Another thing I like about my list is the variety. 1 Playstation/PC game, 1 Xbox game, and 2 Nintendo games. There's a visual novel, an action/adventure game, a rhythm game, and an RPG. I play such a wide spectrum of games so I think these aspects really make the list mine. :)

I posted my #GameStruck4 on Twitter yesterday but I?ll do it again here. Plus I can elaborate more. ^_^

1. Pokemon Emerald
My very first game ever so even just that makes it special to me. It?s also my fave Pok?mon game to date (Crystal is a close second but I only just played it earlier this year). Emerald just has so many memories as I jumped into the game knowing little about Pok?mon games at all (I only knew about the anime at the time). I also didn?t have any friends to help give me tips on how to play so I went through it struggling like a total noob. xD Those were the days.

2. Mario Kart DS
My first ever racing/Mario Kart type game. I absolutely love the series it?s just so much fun and it?s one of the few games I tend to beat most of my friends at so there?s that. :P (I usually get my butt kicked in just about every other game haha). The DS version is extra special to me cause I have so many memories of playing it with other people. Heck one time in school I changed my nickname and everyone in the class with a DS joined me and it easily took them at least one whole race before they figured out it was me. xD

3. Animal Crossing New Leaf
Animal Crossing Wild World is a close one here as it was my first AC game and is also special to me but I played ACNL so much it?s crazy. It?s the game that by far has the most amount of playtime for me (like around 1000 hours now o.O). I also had the most interaction with friends and other people online as I never really had the internet to play Wild World or City Folk online in the past.

4. Splatoon
Started out as a game I could care less about since I hate shooter type games. I thought the concept was neat though just not for me. The final day of the last test fire I decided to give it a go cause hey it?s free so why not. It was frustrating at first cause the servers crashed for like the first half hour of the planned test fire, but once it got up and running boy I had so much fun! They also extended the time due to the technical difficulties. To this day Splatoon and it?s sequel are among my top fave games but the original has a special place in my heart. ^_^

#1- Original Spyro Trilogy (I decided to lump the three games into one because if I didn't they would take up the top 3 spots lol)

#2- Pokemon Sapphire

#3- Super Mario Galaxy

#4- Animal Crossing WW

For my GameStruck4 I said

Golden Sun The Lost Age
Fire Emblem (Rekka no Ken)
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

But now that I think about it a more accurate GameStruck4 for me would be

Golden Sun The Lost Age
Fire Emblem (Rekka no Ken)
Pokemon Gold
Runescape

When I first did it I forgot to think about PC games like MMOs... I was only thinking of console/handheld games.

I actually have not seen the #gamestruck4 challenge thing until it was brought up here. Lol.
I am unsure if one has to do arrange the four influential games that define them in any particular order.
So... I most likely will not arrange the games that I have selected in any particular order to not complicate things for myself.

--------------------------------------------------------------

1. Persona 4 (PS2) - Persona 4 is the first game that introduced me to the Persona series. I wouldn't be invested in the series without it. Not going to lie. :T I discovered this game when I saw a family member played this game. The reason why I add this game as one of the influential video games that defines me is because I can relate to the experience of it being difficult to acknowledge some parts of one's true self. It's just easier to deny something than to acknowledge something. Being honest about what you like or how you feel can be difficult to express sometimes. That is why is game has a special place in my heart because it taught me some valuable things about life.

2. Tales of the Abyss (PS2) - Tales of the Abyss is added into one of the influential video games that defines me because it was a game that taught me about self-discovery and about questioning the meaning of life. I would like to explain more about the "self-discovery" thing; however, I think it probably crosses the spoiler line. So... You'll just have to find that out on your own. The game talks about things like: religion, politics, war, and etc. that we see in our world today. To which it made me really question the meaning of life. It was great that I discovered this game at a game store as well as have played Tales of Symphonia for the Nintendo GameCube. This game is one of my favorite Tales games to play, but it does get a bit tiresome to continuously. Though... I don't mind the tiresomeness of doing that.

3. Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (PS1) - The reason this particular game is added to my one of the influential video games that defines me is that it taught me about returning to one's roots. It's a bit funny to me because of the title of the game. It made me reflect about what was I happy about in the past compared to the present. There were things that I liked doing in the past, but never picked them back up when it came to the present. Exploring the roots of the main character of the game was really fun. The game also taught me the importance of planning what to buy and was to sell as well as how to manage my time. This game is the first Harvest Moon game that I have ever played, so it is a game that has a special place in my heart. I wouldn't be playing any of the other Harvest Moon games without it. I haven't picked up Story of Seasons games, which I heard is the new Harvest Moon game title since the name wasn't something that could be used anymore. I have already added Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns to my video game wish list a long time ago.

4. Divina Online (MMORPG) - I've added this MMORPG onto my list because this was the game that made me want to feel connected with people. Before when I played MMORPGs... I never really wanted to connect with anyone and just went on my own whenever I played. Doing that made me really bored, so I would try another game and the cycle would only repeat itself. This game was different for me. When I first started out in the game I was given a random guild invite. I didn't really know if I should accept it or if I should have denied it. Decided to take a chance and accept the invitation to the guild. Over time... It was getting lonely in the guild because there was barely anyone around, so I left the guild when there wasn't anyone in my guild that was online. I ended up joining a new guild and it was a blast for me. Throughout my time in the new guild that I was in I became a guild officer for my guild. But... The sad thing about the game was that it was closing down and there wasn't much that anyone can do about it. After this MMORPG shutdown... It was a bit difficult to keep playing MMORPGs. I've tried to play a different one; however, it just didn't work out in the end. But... I am grateful for the memories.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Doing this challenge was very challenging to do. It made me think of all the games that I have ever played in my life. I had fun doing this challenge and it was interesting to read what everyone else had put up. Hope to see more of what people would put up for this challenge.

probably my top four most impactful games are:

1. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons: played and beaten this game 7 times. I have such fantastic memories with it and still have the original Game Boy Color and cartridge.
2. Pokemon X - while I think there are better pokemon games, this is the one that got me back into the series and was also my first time getting to network with friends and get into more competitive battling.
3. Super Mario 64 - I remember being absolutely amazed by this game when I was 8 or 9. Takes me back to the moment my ears first heard Dire Dire Docks...oh man
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: had a blast binging this game after my fall semester 2017 was over. Being able to just lose myself in the game over break without worrying too much about time constraints definitely helped with immersion

Honorable mention: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - even though I've never played it, hence why I am not counting it in my gamestruck list, chuggaaconroy's let's play of this game really impacted me in a big way during a difficult stretch in my life. I so love this game's story and would like to play it someday - but I also know that like Ocarina of Time, prior exposure will probably lessen the impact when I actually play it. I would be ok with developing selective amnesia to forget this game and be able to reexperience it :lemon:

These are all nintendo games and I think that reflects just how much an impact nintendo has made on me overall
