Hey guys! Sorry if this has been discussed before, I did a search but couldn't see anything...
Anyhoo, I was just wondering what the possibilities of the 3DS' future could be. I mean, the 3DS XL apparently doesn't have a better screen resolution the the 3DS, and I don't think the cameras were upgraded either? Correct me if i'm wrong haha. Also, I know there were suggestions about the possibility of a second circle pad (although that doesn't bother me). Could Nintendo one day release an upgraded 3DS console that will improve these features? I don't mean the next gen or anything, I mean an actual 3DS
So yeah, I was just wondering what you guys thought about the likelihood that Nintendo will one day release another upgraded version of the 3DS, or if you think that the XL is as upgraded as the 3DS will get?
I don't think the cameras will ever be upgraded.
I think the screen resolution is fine... When I play Jump Out, it seems like it was actually shrunk down to fit the 3DS screen.
I doubt that there will be a second circle pad built in.
I can't think of many upgrades that could be made, the DS was upgraded to DSI, then DSI XL. Not much else?
I could see a second CirclePad being built in. If they need to come up with something new, that could work.
I could see upgraded camera, but only if the system had something majorly new. I don't think that there'll be much else they CAN do. I mean, the whole thing with the DSi was the Internet Browser, which was totally new. I don't think there's anything else that they can do now.
and the DS was upgraded to DS Lite first, then DSi, then DSi XL.
'3DS Lite' is a bit of a mouthful. I think, though, the biggest things they could do would be up the resolution on the XL, have a higher quality camera, longer battery life, and possibly a 3D camera for the inside. Other than that, I think oath2order was right, about not upgrading unless there was something completely new.
I could see them doing a redesign of the OG 3DS in the future, but I'm not sure what they would upgrade. The screen resolution can't change without causing a whole bunch of technical issues and because of the resolution the camera really doesn't need to be better.
I can't see them adding a second circle pad either just because there are barely any games that use it and even less that really need it (there are like 6 games that support the CPP?). Also, if they added the second pad they'd have to add in extra triggers like the CPP has too. I'm really not sure what they would include In a redesign besides just redesigning the hardware to make it built better and feel nicer.
