I have stuck with my original 3ds since the first year it came out. I have only played Animal Crossing New Leaf for a little while and I was wondering what Nintendo has in store for Animal Crossing. We know that a mobile game is coming soon and that's exciting but I would rather play on a console or handheld honestly. The Switch doesn't have very many titles but I'm certain that Nintendo will release an Animal Crossing game for the Switch. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/6qddj8/for_those_asking_for_an_animal_crossing_game_for/ This article shows a small piece of evidence that Nintendo should do it but also, http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/28/nintendo-will-continue-to-support-3ds-in-2018 this article shows evidence that Nintendo is gonna keep on releasing titles for the 3ds. I guess all we can do is hope that we have the console that they'll release the next game on. The reason I bring all this up is because I just started a new town on New Leaf. Should I get invested with this town and build it up and stuff, or wait for the Switch version? I don't even own a switch right now but I can guarantee you that I would buy a switch for a new Animal Crossing game. :/

Why not both? I don't see Nintendo abandoning New Leaf any time soon, or they wouldn't have bothered with the update. I don't own a Switch yet, either, but I'd consider it of a new AC game came out (can't justify it just for Zelda right now).

The AC community seems to be pretty stable, too, so you aren't risking much with a new town.

I think we're looking at 2018 at minimum. There has to be some reason the mobile app keeps getting delayed and has been in radio silence for ages now

Definitely get invested in your town. I can't imagine getting an AC game for the Switch in under a year, and it'll probably be longer. The stupid app is postponing any possible development on a real new game.

I literally just had two years off. Come back and the AC community is as alive and vibrant as ever, I don't see them abondoning New Leaf until there is actually a viable console alternative, not just the mobile game.

Ah, long from now. Who knows, maybe this "animal crossing mobile" is a placeholder, maybe they are actually planning for the switch or something, who knows. E3 2011 showed only little about new leaf and that it will be on 3ds, but for this, they didn't even fully announce that it will be on mobile or switch. Or what it even looks like. Maybe it'll be for a new Nintendo console in the future. There isn't enough evidence yet, but surely it'll probably release around 2018-2020. New Leaf released a year and a half after the expo, for Japan, so maybe it'll be like this for the next animal crossing game, maybe even longer.

I've never cared about the switch.
The design and the material look cheap. In my opinion.
I don't see any problem with making AC for switch but I am honestly unsure about how Nintendo
Is going to release 2 AC games? (Mobile and switch)

Also remember that waiting for the switch will take so long. Designing characters , layout , coding , colouring , modelling , narrative design , sounds and music , animation etc might take years to Finnish.

Ehhh.. I won't get too excited for a new AC game until it's officially announced. Yes, Nintendo would be crazy not to make one, but I honestly think it's gonna be a while before it's even announced.

I say you should get invested. We definitely have time before a new game comes out, so have fun with it while you can!

I feel the same. To me animal crossing is better on a hand held system so you can take it anywhere and maybe meet others through streetpass.
I've no interest in buying the switch and doubt a new animal crossing game could even persuade me to get one.

I totally agree.

I hope animal crossing makes it to the switch, and I would buy the switch if it does.
Given the switch can be played on the tablet bit of the console it makes the game portable, and I like to play ac on a hand held.
But the switch doesn't have streetpass capability - and I love the streetpass feature of acnl (albeit I'm not getting streetpasses any more).
Not sure they could add streetpass to the switch? Maybe. Or that element might be taken up by the ac mobile game that is supposedly still going to happen - streetpass via your mobile & load what you get into the ac Switch game.
The graphics (given what I've seen via is it the Mario race game?) are pretty wonderful for animal crossing - it looks absolutely stupendous.
