Furnishing homes help

I'm living on my island with a player resident on the same Switch and Tom Nook wants us to help build homes for people to move in. We need to furnish the homes but the person helping me isn't allowed to see what is required for the homes. Tommy boy said something to them about talking to me to see what they can do to help. What did he mean by this because they didn't receive any of the recipes that are needed and we don't know how to talk to other people.

You need to talk to each other in Real Life, not in the game. You can tell your friend which supplies are needed to furnish the houses and they can help you gather them. But you're the only one who can actually build the items and submit them.

Having multiple players on one switch can be a pain. My friend does it, and his second player is basically just a supply gatherer at this point.
