Free Programs For Making Signatures?

Hello everyone! I was looking into making signatures, and I was wondering what free programs you guys use. If the program allows you to make and work with gifs too, all the better to mention it! Thanks a lot!

There are tons of cracked versions of PS in the internet... just a lil download...
but you don't know that from me ^^

Gimp is great if you don't want to torrent Photoshop. I prefer Inkscape though, which is basically a free version of Illustrator.
