Fossile Tracker

I really wish there was an in-game fossil tracker where I can see which fossils I've dug up/donated, like how the bugs and fish one works. I know there are tracking apps but I'll have to walk up to everything in my museum and note it rather than having it already there. I guess I can say the same thing for the artworks. Although that's easier to start tracking since I've only donated 3 so far. Just a thought and mere wish haha.

If you make sure to donate everything new whenever you get it, you can use your catalog to help you track. Both fossils and art get put into the catalog in the misc section.

You can use Nook's shopping to track the stuff you got. But other than that, it's still a manual process of checking what fossils you are missing.

I was also wanting this aswell, like in New Leaf the museum had a little board that said what was donated

Yeah like the others have stated, the best way to keep track in my opinion is do the following:

have a site open that lists ALL the fossils of ACNH
then go to your atm (or go to the app) and look through all the fossils you have in that app!
whatever fossil u see on the site, but not on the app, you can write down or take note of the missing fossil!

if you need fossils btw lmk cause i have a bunch extra so i can give you my extra fossils for free

If you want an external tracker, I would recommend https://nookplaza.net/ . Select the museum category, then fossils. You can add the ones you are missing to a list. I currently have a few lists, not just for wishlists, but missing items.
