How many times did you reset to get the perfect villager/plot?

Jambette moved out a few days ago and freed up my normal spot, then Anabelle after her so I'm at 8 villagers. I TTed to a week after Anabelle moved and have been resetting for Merengue or Marina since early this morning. Unfortunately, with the number of normals there are, I'm going to be at this for awhile. I cringe everytime I reset after seeing a Fauna or Lolly plot since they're so popular but I figure it would be easier to reset for the two I want than have to TT Fauna/Lolly into boxes for trading.

I just hope that if Merengue/Marina ever show up, its not in front of a bridge or town hall u_u I havent put down paths yet so at least I don't have to worry about that.

I have never villager resetted.. But plot resetting is quite time consuming for me as I'm usually very picky about where I want my villagers to go (Erik had to go into a specific spot, and Stitches had to also go in a very specific spot)

However the worst were Rocket & Bangle, taking 4 hours each

I have never villager reset, that is way too much work. I reset for 1 1/2 to get Diana to settle in. Should have taken longer because I wanted to build a bridge near where she put her house. Oh well I will have to without that bridge because I love Diana and I will never let her leave :)

I reset for about 2 hours (exactly 30 resets) for Marshal the other day. I was really sad every time Julian's plot showed up (5 times in 24 resets), because he's my FAVORITE smug and I accidentally TT'd him out of my main town, but I kept going anyway.

;n; Hopefully he'll turn up in your campsite soon and you'll have room. Congrats on Marshal though!

Merengue's plot just showed up in a decent spot! It's not ideal (I kinda wanted her to line up at the top of my map where Stitches and Julian are right next to each other, too) but shes not in front of a bridge or anything!

I actually have plot resetted for most of my dreamies. I guess I must have some pretty good luck because it didn't take long for them to pop up. The only villagers that gave me problems were Wolfgang and Kyle. It probably took me about an hour each to reset for them. >.<

Before I would start resetting for villagers, I would just place a character house like in front of my house and the town hall so villagers wouldn't plop their houses right in front. Other than that I didn't really care where the villagers put their house because I haven't done much work with either of my towns yet.

In my old town I plot resetted for Sydney for about 15 minutes and then got bored. I got a Fauna set up in a good spot, and now I probably would have kept her and auctioned her off, tbh. I just started with my mayor after that and Alice set up right next to my house. So close!
I've thought about plot resetting for popular villagers to give to other people, but I'm too lazy.

Resetting is very time consuming and you might lose an entire day of playing if you are determined to find the right camper. If you wish to do so learn more about it first because I recall reading about a system which determines the personality of the camper, increasing your chances on a villager.

Resetting a move-in is a little less time consuming depending on how precise you want to be. If you know you'll have a move-in somewhere in the future, try to build 1x1 projects in places where they can't move-in. This will save you time because their house will be more likely to go in the places you want it to go.

Oh, I know. Oh and this wasn't by campsite, it was random move-in. I wouldn't have spent time resetting if I didn't know I was guaranteed a normal villager and I planned for this to take some time last night haha. It's just that WHICH normal villager was random and there are so many that caused it to take so long. I used the same system for marshal, julian and stitches. They were far quicker though.

I'm gonna build pwps before my next move in though, thats a very good idea.

I have a question about this: I know, from experience, that after you start the game, the next three days a villager is guaranteed to move in each day and they will be a personality you don't have. Here's the question though... if a villager moves out, and you for example have no lazy villagers in your town, will a lazy villager move in? Because I was trying to do this with TT once and it didn't work like that.

I think lazy will be a possibility unless you have other personalities you're missing, but that's after all nine initial villagers have moved in. I'm pretty sure if the villager that moved out was lazy, you're guaranteed a lazy to replace it. At least that's what I figured when Jambette (normal frog) moved out and I reset today and got nothing but normals, as I expected. Anabelle pinged to move out soon after Jambette left though and she was peppy, but I figure since Jambette moved out first, they tried to replace my normal first. Someone will have to double check.

I hope I made sense and answered your question!

Thanks, that made sense! My main issue is figuring out when the plot is soupossed to arrive after a villager's moved out. Is there a specific number of days? I always seem to miss it (and my oppertunity for resetting for a dreamie.)

It can happen at any time after but I read that a week after the last move out is when you're 100% guaranteed a move in. It worked for me today. I TTed a week ahead but I was at 8 villagers so I didn't have to worry about anyone else moving out during that time.
What you can do, if you have 9 after the move out, is create a new character, check for plots and save only if there aren't any/if the one there isn't one you like. Continue to do that until a week after when you're guaranteed a villager plot every reset. That way should work if you talk to the villagers you want to keep every day after saving.

I did my first plot reset today. It took about seven tries. When I first went in, I said, "That spot would work if it was just one space south." The seventh reset, it was one step south, so I went ahead and took it. I really had wanted Chief to move right next door to Skye, where Hippeaux's house had been, but I didn't want to risk it taking hours. Some of the spaces the game picked were really bad, like sandwiched between town hall and the bulletin board.

He turned up in my campsite the very next morning, actually, and I invited him in. xD; Julian really loves me, I guess.

And thanks. (: Well done with Merengue!

I've been resetting since last night - so about 110+ searching for Ankha, Lucky, Rudy, Julian or Marshal. The placements were all in ideal spots, but I don't really care much for that. I suppose my luck is just not on my side (Or that I'm just really picky).

Right now I've been resetting for campers (I just now built the campsite in one of my towns) and I've seen some really cool villagers (I got Hamlet twice ;_; ), but I'm hoping Lolly will show up. I've been at it for a few hours now.
