So, I was just reading through a thread asking if anyone still had their original town, and saw many who did from sometime in 2013 or whenever they bought it. I got mine end of year 2013 but set the start date to match the release date of the game as an old city folk friend did...oh city folk the old days. Anyway it made me think of a question for those like me and others who have their original town and just got another cart or town instead of resetting. Which is the problem of time and multiple towns.

I do tt for certain reasons if I must like getting someone out or in and set up, or to next day if did all can that day, but I always have and do go back to the last date played if have been away from a town, as I like to go through the day do all there is before going on to the next. So I end up falling behind the real date so I don't miss anything. As I have more than one town also you always have that time you play more on the new one at first...So anyone else play that way, day by day to last played and have towns that are really out of synch with current time?

I am talking about not even being 2015 yet or close in the first town...? I write my start dates and times down but once I was given a second ds I realized to really carefully check which cart and time as lost a couple fav villagers which thanks to nice people I retrieved eventually. But I have end of 2013 and mid 2014 towns..my last will be set close to current but I always fall behind not that it matters really, anyone else or do you just jump past it, I would feel bad doing that. Anyone else?

i never reset mine, and i started in July 15, 2013

I will tt ocasionally back a day or forward a day if i want my ordered items or hybrid flowers, but a couple months ago I was not afraid to time travel throughout the seasons. I put down patterns on every single block in my town so no weeds would pop up xD

I eventually got good villagers so i stopped risking them by tt

its 2068 in my Wild world tho xD

I don't think of going day by day and not skipping as tting, it is playing through everyday which puts you behind sometimes..So does that mean that people who don't tt, if they leave thier game or don't play for two weeks don't go back and just start it up and see who is gone just to stay on real time? I am starting to get confused on what people consider tting in regular play...which is an interesting question too..

Mine is today, so June 2, 2015. I TT forward and back occasionally though but I always go back to the current date when I'm done.

I would assume TT meant any manipulation of the clock, whether to move 1 day or 2 months. But I suppose there's room for interpretation. I often TT by 4 days, since I'm trying to catch up to the actual date (I'm actually only in April of 2015 now). And it also allows me to move in characters quicker, which you mentioned doing as well.

The only reason I didn't jump back to the current date was to catch up on holiday goods and get some days/hours for my town tree. But you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to skip all the time you have left. I'm looking forward to getting back to regular time because it just feels more natural to me, but some people are comfortable jumping around.

I started my town on June 16th, 2013, two days after the release date in Europe, and right now it's June 3th, 2015.
I've never TT'd one day in my life and just accepted the fate that my village got, such as villagers I liked leaving, flowers wilting etc etc.
I've never really understood TT, so I just never really tried.

On my Wild World, it's the 3d of June aswell.

So anyone else play that way, day by day to last played and have towns that are really out of synch with current time?

That is exactly how I play - have several towns, they are all still in 2013 but not on the same date.
Part of the reason is although I bought the game at release I wasn't in a position to really play as major things were going on in real life. Its better now but I am still in 2013 ingame, the reason now is mainly because I have more than one town.
I don't go back over a past save, just move slowly forward.

It works best for me to use the 3ds clock to change time.
There are no issues, as I play no other game so having the console set in the past as well is no problem.
DLC downloads as normal (I get whatever is currently around for download).
You can sell turnips in a town set at a different date.
I need the game to be relaxing and unstressful, and playing this way works for me.

I still have my original town started a few days after release (June 16th, 2013). The current date in the game is June 3, so it's synced up with the real life time. I generally don't TT unless I know I won't be able to play for a while, in which case I just TT a day or two forward until a villager asks to move to make sure no one moves out while I'm gone. When I come back from not playing for a while though, I usually go back a month/month and a half or so and then play through each of those days until I get up to the current date (so I TT from one day to the next up to the current date).

I bought the ACNL Nintendo system with in-built game the day it was released in Europe.
The day after I started my original town, Paarl.

I played rather intensively during that summer and by early September, I had 9 dream villagers, 4 fully paid houses and 30 mil IBG.

Due to informatic system problem (crash) I lost the console (and the game too) and was really "heartbroken".

It was actually replaced (identical) and I started from scratch medio September with a new Paarl, and I have been playing that exact town till today (3rd June 2015 in the game :) ).

I must admit I have TT quite a few times in the past, and will probably continue to do so in the future.

When, for some reason I can't play for a number of days, I always make a note of the last day I was in the town...

:)

My original and first town (I now have three) was started on June 23, 2013. Never reset and never will. I did think about resetting at one point, but I could never bring myself to erase all of that progress. I even picked my town map out of the original maps Rover showed me because I was stupid and didn't realize that there were more choices.

I got my copy of New Leaf (first game of AC I ever played) in 2014 on the 1st of March. Right now my town is kind of behind, as I'm still in March of 2015.

I try to stay as close to the current date as possible, but it is very hard for me when my life can become quite busy. So to prevent villagers from moving out, I TT to the last date I played. This doesn't always work out, though, as I recently took a long break from the game and forgot the date of the last time I played, which resulted in Wolfgang unexpectedly moving out, but I'm going to make it my goal to cycle through 16 villagers and get him back!

My town was established January 9th, 2014, the day I bought the game. I've never reset, and I do TT, but within reason. Never forward past the current date, only backwards for when I've missed a few days of playing. Then forward day by day to catch back up to today's date. I enjoy being able to play day by day, and not needing to worry if I don't feel like or can't play for a day or two.

My town Applewin applies.

The date in which it began was August 17, 2013.

Three of my Day #01 starters still reside in Applewin: the Normal frog Jambette; the Jock duck Scoot; the Peppy bird Twiggy. They're a part of the overall identity of Applewin. That's reason enough for me to not allow any of them to move.

The Dream Address is in my signature. You can also use the keyword Applewin for requesting a Dream to Luna. It will bring up at least a half-dozen different versions. (They have to do with different times of a year. For example: I have a version for last Christmas.) The top listing is the one that is most recent.

I am glad I kept the original town. I have all the paintings and all the fossils but not all bugs (which creep me out) or fish. I have a layout that makes for an easy and appealing time for anyone to visit Applewin in a Dream. All human houses are fully upgraded. And I appreciate, ever since I've been at this site since November 2013, everything that The Bell Tree Forums members have done to help me.

Thanks for responding, this is exactly my situation and how I play, it does make it easier and doesn't much matter to me if time is off as also use the ds clock never game one. Same reasons for falling behind as well.

May 6th, 2014 ^_^

I also to TT, but never more than 2 days at a time, because I wouldn't want my villagers to get upset with me
Lately I've just been TT'ing a day back and forth for PWP hunting

I started on June 9th, 2013 and I don't change the time--i.e., if I don't play for a week, I don't set the time back to when I last played. It's currently June 3rd, 2015 in my towns. To me, setting the time back to when I last logged off would seem kinda like a version of TT'ing. If you stop playing for a week (or a month, or many months) and you log back in to the time at which you left, it's like you were reading a fairytale, put it down and then resumed reading. Everyone's still there and you can pick up the thread of your story. If you don't reset the time and just carry on, letting time march on without changing it, it's like reading a ratty old book with some pages missing and maybe someone (or a bunch of someones) has moved away, which seems rather more poignant and real to me, which is why I like to play that way. And yup, it's led to some sadnesses.

Either play style is equally valid, depending on your preference, and you explain very well why your style of play works for you! Enjoy your lovely fairytale! :)
