Can flowers spread on their own? Like flowers that are alone.

afaik no, but villagers may plant flowers of the same species next to each other and the game spawns new flowers randomly every day.

No, they can't, but it can look that way because villagers will plant new flowers for you. You can sometime see them do that when they're standing still and you can't talk to them, and they seem to drop a bunch of flowers on the ground.

Not singles no, but if you put a few together they'll keep growing more and more. And previous people are right villagers "help" you by planting similar flowers together which is nice cause it helps with hybrids, but also not nice cause they'll move ones you have in certain places... (hence the beach breeding you'll see people doing)

Posters above me are right. You can also obtain hybrid flowers by receiving letters with presents from villagers with who you've a very close bond.
