Is this the most efficient way to be breeding flowers? Is there another one that's better? What have you found to work best?

Ive heard diagonal works good but you gotta make sure that different breeds arent touching another. But idk for sure

As krystillin said, it's good to keep them separate from other types so they have more room to spawn.
Keeping them one space away from the wall is good too, that way it has even more possible spaces to spawn.

Good idea! Thank you, I moved the different breeds each 1 space apart and away from the wall.

Spawning diagonally is the best way to spawn new hybrids, just make sure you put different species away from each other.
