The Herald reports that before the teen lost consciousness, she asked her mother, Kay O'Bara, to never leave her side.

TBT what do you think about that? ^ I can't possibly imagine putting such a humongous burden on my mother for her entire life like that. Do you guys see the provided quote differently?

I'm sorry to say it but I would have pulled the plug a long time ago. Maybe a year or two but not for 42 years. It's sad though.

I don't think I could pull the plug because I'd always have the feeling "They could've awakened."

I would be the weirdest feeling to "go to bed" a 16 year old boy then wake up an almost 60 year old... old man. I don't know if hair grows when you're in a coma but I would want mine to be left alone so I could wake up a wizard.

She probably didn't realize just how big of a burden it was going to end up being.
I don't think anyone really expects to be comatose, let alone for 42 years.

I remember hearing about this woman when I lived in Palm Beach. It was a pretty big deal for one of my teachers that had gone to school with her. It was supposed to be one of those 'don't give up hope' stories.

I just got done reading the website. Apparently she woke up, gave her sister a huge smile, and then died. My feels are doing things.
