My flag design needs a MAJOR upgrade. I designed it for the first and only time about 4 years ago, so it?s looking a little rough. Any advice for designing a flag?
Try looking at ACNL designs around the web that inspire you.
Some even give tutorials on how to make certain things if art isn't your forte.
Though most importantly, as Bunny from tiger pointed out, you should get an idea of what you want the theme to be.
What are you trying to convey with your flag?
It's the first impression of a town, so it really boils down to what you want to 'say'.
If there is a certain object you'd like on your flag (for example, a flower) but you feel you don't know how to draw that item well in-game, you could try Googling for a pixel version of that item. (So you'd just Google 'pixel flower.') There are usually image results that can help get you started, since they work on a grid just like the design feature in AC.
Thanks for your help and suggestions! I think I'm going to try to remake my current flag (an apple for Apple Valley) and just make it look a little more professional. My town doesn't really have any sort of theme, but I found a pixel template of the in-game apple and it's looking better already. Will update when I've finished it!
