I prefer sea fishing purely because I find it difficult to aim in rivers.. Also maybe it’s just my imagination but I feel like river fish change directions so often
As of lately, I've been more interested in river fishing. I find that I'm not seeing as much finned fish anymore, and the large shadows without a fin are either just a sea bass or red snapper during the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere. However, the river has more variety with good catches right now, with the dorado, saddled bichir, arapaima and the arowana.
Sea fishing because like the person said above, there are more expensive fish to be caught and there is more variety. When it comes river fishing I don't know which if it is a black bass or a dorado. In the sea I can tell through the vibrations and the size of it. Also I feel like there is more variety when it comes to sea fishing.
Sea fishing is just where are you get the money catches I think. I only really sea fish because it’s easier for me to aim in open waters, because in rivers I always feel like I’ll miss somehow. Also, you gotta love catching a good shark now and then!
If i am fishing just for fun then i go sea fishing because my rivers are kinda annoying to fish in and the fish themselves are annoying. I kinda like fisihing in lakes, too! If we are talking about fishing to get bells then i guess sea fishes are more expinsive? I am not sure if that is true because i dont even know what kinds of fishes you can find in rivers and how much they can sell for, but i always fish in the sea when i want to earn bells through fishing.
sea fish only ever swim towards the shore so they dont go back and forth as much. there's also the fact that u can just park urself in a lil corner on the dock and spam fish bait so u dont even have to move around to get bells.
Sea fishing because it's that much easier catching fish. Also, it's satisfying when you catch an olive flounder or a shark. Trying to catch fish in the river is fairly challenging and they sometimes don't even see your bobber.
Can we just not talk about pond fishing? I get annoyed every time I cast my rod and the fish immediately faces the other way. Half of your time spent is doing that, and it's not very fun...
Definitely sea fishing. I find river fishing frustrating especially now that I have so many areas around the river decorated making it hard to get a good angle on the fish. There's also the fact the rod sometimes is hidden behind things like my character so its hard to see when the bobber goes under.
I was 100% a sea fisher until June hit. Seems they added quite a few profitable river fish so now I do stop at rivers when I see something promising. So probably 70/30 now.
In terms of pure taste and aesthetics, I prefer river and even pond fishing. The sea fish are definitely more iconic, though - I have special nostalgic bonds with barred knifejaws, dabs, snappers, sea bass, etc that just aren't there for the crucian carp and black bass. (edit: one exception - the loach is nostalgic too.)
I love ponds because they're quiet, pretty and they teach me patience. I cast my line in the center of my star pond and just wait for the fish to turn the right way and see it
I've always been a sea fisher because thats where I had the best luck, at least in NL. I hated catching river fish in NL, but in NH I actually don't mind it and have had way better luck! I still love ocean fish the best tho
