How's fishing for you?

So far I've been having a hard time catching these lately:

• giant trevally
• mahi-mahi
• killifish
• char
• angelfish
• arowana
• gar
• great white shark
• whale shark

I've been using fish bait, but for some reason everytime I use it, the damn bait gives me sea bass, black bass, sea horse, mackerel... =_____________= ?!?!

How has your luck been lately... sigh.

I was able to catch all with the help of fish bait. I stick to one spot and if the shadow isn’t the one that matches what I’m looking for, I scare it away.

For sharks if I didn’t have bait I would run up and down the shore scaring away the shadows with no fin in order to help them respawn.

The mahi-mahi and the giant trevally are the toughest to catch since they only spawn on the pier, so you really need to use fish bait in order to get them.

So far though, the only fish I’ve been still working towards finding are the betta and the giant trevally.

It really comes down to luck. I’ve tried my hardest to get the golden trout and I didn’t get it, so I’ll have to wait until next season when it becomes available again.

My only advice would also be to try island hopping, since there are some islands that only spawn specific fish (like finned fish or large fish only). But other than that, just keep trying!

I don't understand why the mahi-mahi and giant trevally are so rare. I pulled up 3 dorado in about 10 minutes today, but I've only found 1 mahi-mahi and no giant trevally yet even though they have been out for over a month.

bait just automatically spawns a fish. i would recommend ignoring small fish and familarizing yourself with the sea bass shape. that really helps you save time. the red snapper also sells for a lot (i think) and the shape is surprisingly small. just recognize the shapes and try to avoid suckerfish ;c;

i was lucky and caught all of them randomly, except the mahi-mahi that took soooo much fish bait lol

The gar is giving me trouble >< I found all the other river fish without trying that hard.

I just need 3 more fishes left, which consists of the snakehead, saw head shark and the golden trout. To deal with fishing I've been using fish bait to make things easier, or I would go to the mystery islands, since they have a higher spawn rate.

I... seriously I'm sorry for all of y'all, but I never use fish bait, don't try very hard, and the only fish I think I haven't caught yet this month is the saddled bichir. Randomly fished the dorado out of the river yesterday, the gar came after fishing whatever was in the pond every time I walked by it, *finally* got the trevally after over a month of just visiting the pier a few times a day and fishing anything big-looking... the rest of the rare freshwater fish came when I stayed up past midnight on the 1st to go around my bodies of water to catch the new stuff, and I have still not been able to find a second piranha to show Blathers! (I want to know his thoughts lol)

I have not seen a single giant trevally or mahi mahi. I fish all the time too. I catch arowanas left and right but I can’t catch a trevally :’(

I had a hard time catching a great white shark. The first one I caught using fish bait. The other three I caught at 9 pm without fish bait. I'm not sure why they became more frequent. Maybe it was that some fish met their curfew and made it easier, I don't know.

I have used probably over 500 pieces of bait, and have only reeled in three Mahi Mahi. I have yet to get a Giant Trevally. I feel like I'm going insane from this, haha! If anyone has tips or advice, I'd appreciate it.

Well... i'm sorry, we're just all trying to please Blathers =w=;
I caught an arapaima and dorado today (without fish bait), so thank god. I normally just pass by the damn shadows because it's annoying sometimes and I just scare them away, but then I got intrigued by this oddly large river/waterfall fish so I took my chances and got an arapaima.
I just like showing Blathers pretty butterflies and he's still squirming, so, I'm happy with that. x'DD

I've caught all 67 fish possible (without TTing) up to this point, which I'm pretty happy about. For the most part I've been able to get a good chunk of them without needing fish bait. There are a few where I used fish bait for them (i.e. mahi-mahi, giant trevally, giant snakehead), but I only needed to use like 50 bait max for each of them. Lone exception is the golden trout, where I used over 100 bait trying to get it.

my luck actually has been pretty good! i’ve caught all the bugs for this month and am just missing a few of the fishies (ocean sunfish and giant snakehead are the main ones i can think of aha).

the main thing that’ll really help you is fish bait - and try fishing while it’s raining, too, as that’ll increase your chances a bit. good luck!

still searching for a saddled bichir and giant snakehead. tried to find the bichir for like 3 hours tonight (home island and mystery islands) and have been actively searching since the start of june but nada. gonna give in and farm bait tomorrow
