Fishing, Diving, and Bug hunting Badge question

I'm starting to think that the streetpass master badge isn't the only bad I'm never going to get.

Just a question about badges.

If I'm catching bugs, and my inventory is full, if I continue catching and releasing, Those count towards the badge too, right? Or do they have to go into your inventory for them to count?

Same question for fishing and diving.

I don't think it's a silly question at all, and I've been wondering the same thing. To be careful, I've been sure to sell or release the old so that the new do go into my inventory. I'll be watching to see if you get some good advice! I feel like I've been catching bugs forever - I can't imagine how tedious the fishing is going to be

i'm pretty sure that if you have at least caught them in the first place, they count. it'd be silly otherwise. you can release them if you'd like.

Re badges for fish, you get your Prof. Of Icthyology badges as you progressively complete your collection, so each fish you catch definitely counts ... You also get your Master Angler badges as you progressively catch a large amount of fish, no matter what type ... This also applies to bugs, and diving.
