Fish Bait Help

I have never used fish bait before and wanted to know how to use it and if I can use it to get different fish day and night.

The way fish bait works is pretty simple, you walk up to some water, toss it in (from your inventory) and a fish appears in that spot for you. This will always be a fish that could normally appear in that spot at that time (You won't be able to get nighttime fish during the day, or fish from different months, or anything like that). It also doesn't appear to affect the price/rarity of the fish that appears at all.

Fish bait is useful for when you want to catch a fish that can only be found in a certain spot, though. For example, the ones from the pier. For the ones that just appear wherever in the ocean or rivers, I wouldn't bother if I were you. You can easily find those by running around.

Thank you for some reason I thought using the bait would let you get rare fish in the season you are in. Also is each bait bag a one use only or do you get 3 or 4 uses per bag.

It's relatively easy to get fish bait, as it require only one item for one bait and probably it is easiest craftable thing.
One bag = one use. Maybe it's not increasing a chance to get rare fish, but using bait constantly speeding up a process of catching fishes.
If we trying to catch a fish in specific place, instead of walking around and checking if a fish appears, we can use a bait and fish will be ready to catch immediately.
