First Time on Club Tortimer (My Experience)

Hey there folks!!

So, i had a lot of fun with the island and bought myself a club tortimer membership

Honestly going into it i didn't know what to expect. I never played online before on the island and honestly this was the first time i found out that there is actually an online mode in the island (i've been playing since 2014 and i honestly just found out about it)

Anyways, like i said i really didn't know what to expect, i came in and there were just two people just standing still doing nothing, which i found quite odd, So i was just doing my normal thing, catching bugs and fish and stuff, then this girl came, she was the only one who i was actually able to talk and interact with (since the other 2 were literally just standing doing nothing) and we just chatted a bit.

Then all a sudden this girl that i barely know, dropped a ton of bell bags, which was surprising for me (i think part of the reason she gave me bells was cause my comment on my TPC was "im broke") she said she had sold her other town for a ton of bells, and she just wanted to help!!

i barely had 100k bells when i started and after that i had 1.5 mil bells, i didnt know what to expect going into the online island, but i was pleasantly surprised.

After that she left for some reason that i had forgot and i have never saw her since

If you're reading this, Thank you so very much!! you literally gave me such a jumpstart and i was able to do a lot with the bells you gave me (still have a ton btw) Thank you very much!!

Anyways im sharing this with you guys to see if people had any similar experience on the island
I want to know your first experience on the online island (Was it Pleasant? Was it horrible? let me know!!)
or any kind encounters you had going to the online island

For when I rarely visit the island, the experience is typically neutral with some bad ones.
I cannot exactly remember my first experience, so it was likely neutral.

How nice! I visit the international island often, but no such thing had ever happened to me!

That being said, I think your post is lucky! I just went to an island and there were tons of hybrid flowers scattered all over! There was a french girl speaking to me, but I just told her "je ne parle pas francais", which is pretty much the only French sentence I remembered from 3 years of French class haha. Then she just said "cadeaux", so I filled my box with pretty hybrids and I'm super happy!

Personally i haven't met foreign speaking people but if i did the experience would probably be similar to yours Hahaha!!

I'll probably head to the online island again soon and see if i could meet some folks

I’m so glad you had a good experience! I only tend to visit CT to get the exclusive items at the gift shop so I’ve never actually interacted with other players there (I’ve also heard some horror stories lmao), maybe I should give doing that a chance!

Oh wow I've never met a French speaking person before. German, yes, a few times but sometimes they spoke English pretty well too. According to one German girl I met, English is taught as a language there in school, along with I think Spanish and one other language? It's not like an elective, they have to take those languages.

My experiences have been okay. When people drop bells, I usually decline cause I don't really need them that bad, plus I don't want to look cheap. There have been many times where I get no one on the island (due to my crap hotspot) and when I do connect to someone, they don't talk to me. There was this one girl who I repetitively met on my regional island, who would leave everytime she even so much as saw me. I think she was island grinding for a certain soveiner, but she never spoke to me once.

The bad experiences happen when I friend them. One time a boy stole a gold rose of mine, then another time another person either stole or ran over and killed my Jacobs Ladder. When I asked him about it, he said he didn't know what happned. Luckily my WiFi errorred so I got it back. Later they called me a mal amigo so I never let them back in my town.

Hahaha I've also heard of horror stories from the online island but i think the good stories outweigh the bad!!

You should try it!! it's a fun experience, you can meet all sorts of people there!!

Personally i've only tried going to the online island once so i haven't really had any bad experiences

We exchanged friend codes so we could talk again but I didn't know swapnote had been discontinued so I actually never saw her again I still wonder how she's doing sometimes.

It feels great meeting someone and being able to chat with them about different topics and exchanging friend codes

I had online friends which were really fun to play with that i no longer have contact with, it really makes you wonder where they are and how they're doing!!

That sounds like a nice experience! I don't usually visit the international islands, but I did once to try and trade for a pink wet suit (this was before I became a member of this forum). No-one ended up having one, but I did give some Sanrio & Celeste items I was wearing to this French and Japanese girl that were playing because they didn't have access to them. I should do that more often, but since discovering the forum here I actually haven't visited the online islands again.

Consider yourself lucky. My first time I ran into a massive racist, and the next time I decided to go I ran into a hacker that tried to grief me and one other player. Thankfully I had turned off my console before he could do any damage. Granted, I don't think he'd have been able to do much.

Haha yeah, some people can be a bit rude but it's a good thing you can block em. Its a pretty fun place though, I haven't been in a while so I should definitely revisit.

I had one visit where the other player acted like the police, followed me around the island, another one where some girl was trying to get money, another one where the player was annoyed that there were non English speakers on the island. All in all, just weird.

Thats really lucky! I wish i had an oppurtunity to get something like that on tortimer island, I should use the club membership feature more to meet more people. It sounds pretty good

I go to Club Tortimer all of the time and since I'm a hacker I like to use that as an icebreaker and give out tons of items to people who are chatty and nice lol. Before I was able to hack items in, I gave out bells all of the time because I have way too much and don't need it. glad you had a good experience, I remember my first time going, I was a nervous wreck because I thought it was just gonna be rude people lol. It was actually a great first time and I have not had much bad experiences maybe like 2-3 bad ones but it was just random people telling me to get off the island. 2-3 bad ones compared to hundreds of visits is a good statistic and it's not really that bad!

Fun Update: I went to tortimer island as a member as a member and 2 people gave me bells :O
They were really nice and it was pretty fun

I never really go to the online island because I'm not much for socializing and I'm scared of some of the horror stories I've heard. I did spend a night island hopping to get the Sanshin from the Island Gift Shop. Most of the islands I landed on had a person or two just standing around, but they didn't say anything and I just checked the shop real quick and then left.

But once, I was getting ready to leave when someone new arrived. I didn't think anything of it and proceeded to talk to Leilani as soon as I was able. I was in the middle of her text about leaving when all of a sudden the new guy ran up to me and shouted "NO!" I didn't know what to do and I couldn't cancel out of the conversation with Leilani because the game was already preparing to send me home. So, I waited, expecting to go home but the cursor just kept spinning. Finally, it just errored out. I feel like the new guy must have hit the WiFi switch or something to try to prevent me from leaving, but I have no idea why. I'm just glad I hadn't found the item I wanted on that trip. I'd have been really upset if I had just bought it and then lost of it because of something stupid like that.
