Here are the first screens and teaser trailer for LostWinds: Winter Of Melodias, the follow-up to Frontier's critically acclaimed WiiWare adventure.

As we reported yesterday , the new adventure sees you guiding Toku through the magical land of Mistralis as he goes on a mission to rescue his mother, lift an ancient Curse and thwart the evil Balasar.

Once again you'll be utilising the elemental powers of Enril the Wind Spirit to protect and guide Toku. Enril's skills will power Toku's jumps and glides, and help him smash new enemies.

This time you'll also have the ability to instantly switch the seasons between summer winter, so frozen ponds and waterfalls will become deep pools and chambers where you can dive and unlock secrets.

You can also use this season switching skill on your enemies by freezing or dousing them. Additionally, by changing the climate you can form snowballs or moisture-laden clouds.

Another new ability is the cyclone, which can be used to transport Toku, smash powerful enemies and drill through rocks.

David Braben, Chairman and Founder of Frontier, says Winter Of Melodias marks an improvement on the original. "LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias will delight both new and returning players. Every aspect has been extended and polished, and the major new gameplay elements dovetail perfectly to give a fantastically rich, fun, innovative experience."

LostWinds: Winter Of Melodias will be available for download via the WiiWare service. The release date and price has yet to be confirmed.

So changing from Winter to Spring sounds cheesy and I don't know how Frontier will manage that but here's to hoping it'll be longer than the first!
