So I am looking for advice on how to defeat Kiawe. I've tried and failed twice now. I've been coming at him with a level 23 Slowpoke and using my Rogen Rogenrola as a secret weapon. The problem is Rogenrola gets taken out by Brick Break and Slowpoke is super weak to poison attacks.

Should I just go out and catch another Water type or continue leveling up my Pokemon or what?

I think you should use another water Pok?mon and train it high. If you beaten the water trial, you can freely catch water Pok?mon in the lake.

You could set up Trick Room so that slower Pok?mon get the move advantage. The problem is, TM92 is not rewarded until after you are champion. If you don't mind trading to someone who could teach one of your Pok?mon the move, that could be an option. You could also raise Slowpoke to level 28 when it learns Water Pulse (much stronger than Water Gun).

I am guessing you are playing Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon because of Alolan Marowak's Brick Break. The Marowak has a speed aura, so it will likely be faster than whatever you can throw out unless you have stat-changing moves. What does the rest of your team look like, and do you have Baton Pass?

Honestly, I'd just level up the Pok?mon just a bit more. Roggenrola evolves into Boldore at level 25. Focus all of your firepower on Marowak and not any of the allies he calls into battle.

I don't remember the order of events yet...have you been to Konikoni City on the same island yet? You can buy TM78 Bulldoze at the Pok?mart there...fire types are weak to ground (and poison types are as well, so any Salandit called into battle will be quickly wiped out). Teach it to your Roggenrola!
