To the surprise of absolutely no one who has seen me talk about Fire Emblem on this site, I only play Classic.
I got into the series with Path of Radiance after watching someone play it on a stream they did on Saturday evenings years ago. I bought it, loved it (it's still one of my favorites) and I proceeded to get its sequel Radiant Dawn, then went back and started to play the Game Boy Advance titles. Anyway, because of this, Classic was the only option available and I learned to adapt to it. I'm into this series both for the stories and the tactics, so I prefer the challenge of keeping my units alive.
What do you guys think of the new phoenix mode in fates? All fallen units red pawn after the turn they were defeated. It seems too easy to me...
It's ridiculous. I'm fine with Casual mode's existence because some people just aren't good at tactics and it's a way for them to play and enjoy the series
even if the only games with Casual mode unfortunately have the weakest and most uninteresting stories and characters without Intelligent Systems having to sacrifice good map design.
Phoenix Mode is just accommodating bandwagon fans who don't actually care about the gameplay or series in general and just don't want their precious ships to die. Casual brings them back in the next map, which is fine. Who is so amazingly, bafflingly terrible at this game that they
need a unit back immediately after enemy phase when they still have like twelve other units still available to them to finish the map with? I'm personally far past exhausted hearing about husbandos, waifus, and shipping and would be ecstatic if we could lose some of that dead weight in the major FE circles.
