After a hiatus from TBT and from ACNL because life, I returned to my town (and here) to express my appreciation to you all for the kindness I was shown here and for the fun times I had posting, reading, as well as visiting your DAs.

I'd like to share my DA with you (though my town is still a work in progress, about 90% done). It's a colorful garden town where you can visit the pyramid and sphinx, a moai statue, a (almost complete) zen garden, as well as a campsite and a little in-town mainstreet where you can sit on a bench and relax or wander at leisure through the clearly marked pathways.

The beach is a riot of hybreeding at the moment, and the villager interiors are less Town and Country style and more "went wild at the flea market" style, but the mayor has a quaint little home featuring all her favorite hobbies.

Please do consider visiting, and I welcome all feedback. This is my little getaway from life and I still can't believe how far my little town has developed over the last few months.

Just visited and it was lovely! Thanks for sharing, I really appreciated seeing your choices, a lot of unique touches so it was especially fun.

Thank you so much! I really wanted a garden theme, but the villagers never suggested any nature-type pwps, so I improvised lol. I'm still improving things and will definitely update once I get the zen bell suggested. Thanks for visiting and sharing your comments. :)

Hello! I dreamed of your town last night and I really enjoyed it. I made sure to talk to your villagers a bunch, Gwen doesn’t seem to think too highly of your mayor lol. I couldn’t get any of the others to say anything about you though! Timbra looks way nicer in game than I thought she would and I loved seeing Tex again. I really miss him in my town.

I think your paths are great and your PWPs are in fun spots. It was great exploring your town! My only complaint would be the lack of organization of your flowers. I know you were going for a garden theme and I think you hit that mark, but I also think it might look good with an order to the chaos. :)

Great job on your town!

I'm dying about Gwen! She literally just gave me her picture yesterday and popped into my house unannounced while I was putting stuff in storage XD

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed my town. I'm still working on those darned flowers lol. It's such a daunting task coming back after a couple of months and trying to figure out what to do with them all. Ultimately, I'd like to fix up the beach and use more hybrids in the town. Once I get things more organized and my last pwps in, I'll post a update. But I really do find the feedback helpful, so wanted to get people to visit so I can get more perspective. Thanks again! I appreciate you sharing your feedback. Gets me motivated to get to those flowers lol!

Welcome back!! Your town sounds lovely--I'll definitely give it a visit! :) I've had ACNL since 2015 but haven't been actively playing since last summer (it's addicting). I have two copies and I'm focused on my newer town which is still underdeveloped and in progress. I plan on laying out paths soon! What tips do you recommend when landscaping for the first time? ^^

Thanks! It's nice to be back.

I would start with deciding what kind of theme you want (and if you're like me, it will change over time). Having a theme to work with helps decide on pwps, flowers, villagers, paths, etc. instead of just throwing things around. Unless throwing things around IS your theme haha.

But don't get hung up on perfection or you'll never get very far. Just work with what you have and you can make a really nice town. For instance, I wanted a garden theme from the beginning, I created some paths that I think are perfect for that when I began my town and I hopefully waited for the villagers to suggest the wisteria trellis, hot spring, geyser, flower arc and other nice garden pwps. Instead they suggested the pyramid and sphinx, pile of pipes, the tower, and basically everything that would never typically go into making a garden. So I improvised.

But back to planning, keep in mind those kinds of things happen and don't get discouraged. Then start connecting the dots...literally... between houses, building, pwps and build a path system. Even if you want dirt paths it's nice to lay patterns down to consistently wear the grass down by running over the same tracks. If you want hybrids, start collecting them early on, either by growing them yourself or trading with others online.

Once your network is up, start thinking about trees, bushes and flowers and how they fit with the buildings and pwps as well as with the general theme you're going for. Some people like to chop all their trees to have a clean slate. I work around the trees at first and then chop down whatever is in the way. Either way, hoard flowers, saplings and shrub starts. And axes.

Patience and experimentation is the key. I like my villager houses spread out a bit so that I can landscape them and give them their own little gardens. I like to landscape around the buildings and make little park areas with pwps and landscape those. I do that one section at a time over days and weeks. It's kind of therapeutic for me to watch it all come together slowly and not rush it. It will be done before you know it. I just picked up one of my old abandoned towns and I'm starting it up again since Ravena is getting close to being finished and I need a new project.

I hope that helped a bit. And if you decide to visit my town, please let me know what you think. It's still a work in progress and has some rough edges, but it's getting there. Constructive criticism and other feedback is welcome.

Wow this is all really great advice! I will definitely take note and consider laying out my paths first before I start building any PWPs! :3
I have two potentially themed towns I've thought of. It's just the difficult part is laying out paths. ><; There are so many pretty paths to choose from on Pinterest and Tumblr haha.

Yes I will give your town a tour! I love visiting other people's dream towns and seeing the work they've put into creating their town. :> Also just curious but is your town hacked or non-hacked? ^^

My town is non-hacked! And I don't time-travel in this one either. I was too impatient for the qr machine to unlock so I even created my own path and clothing patterns, but I got inspiration from tumblr blogs and stuff like that to help me get some ideas to work with.

Let me know what you think of my DA. I've been making little improvements here and there everyday to perfect things, but I've got plenty still to work on. Including getting that zen bell...someone already suggested the stadium light today, so there one more day of waiting on that haha.

A little update: I've completed my outdoor landscaping, added some clothing at the plaza and little presents to find around town, got my flowers organized, cleaned the beach, and added a couple of final pwps. Please drop by and have a stroll through the colorful garden town of Ravena!

DA is in my signature. (:

Thanks! This has been a process for sure. There were many moments I wanted to give up in the last nine months omg. ESPECIALLY because Chief would never give me that darned zen bell, lol. I put so much of my (rather limited) creativity into this town and it is completely unhacked, no time travel, no setting the clock back when I took breaks, no plot resetting, and all my own patterns. I feel like I've completed a master work or something haha, and I am so relieved that I can sit back and relax in my little town now. I spent today fishing and talking to my villagers, visited my weeding town to rescue the carnation and even caught a squid finally!

Keep after your cranky, he has to spill eventually.
