Favourite villager of each species

Ok ok, I know this has been done a million times but I am making another one. I find it so interesting to see everyone's opinions on the villagers and why you like them. I am also interested to see how many people like the same villagers as me. Feel free to write about why you like them but you don't have to if you don't want. anyways who is your favourite villager of each species?

Here is my list:
Alligator: Alli I am not really a fan of the alligators but I love how Alli kind of look like a snooty elderly person
Anteater: Olaf I didn't like him at first when I saw him at my campsite but as he lived on my island I grew to love him
Bear: Tutu I'm definitely not a fan of the bears but I guess Tutu is ok. She's kinda cute
Bird: Jacob/Jakey I just love him. Everything about him screams awesome to me. His fun colours really emphasise his personality
Bull: Rodeo Again, I'm not a fan of this species but Rodeo's spooky look is a bit cool
Cat: Moe My animal crossing best friend! We have known each other for so long and if I didn't have him my game wouldn't feel complete
Chicken: Ava One of the first villagers I ever started with. I really disliked her but somehow that's why I like her?
Cow: Patty I feel like Patty is very underrated and deserves more love. What a sweet cow she is
Cub: Bluebear and Murphy I couldn't choose between these two. I love both of their designs and have always loved how fun they both are
Deer: Zell He was always at Brewster's back in New Leaf and I just loved seeing him there chilling every day. That's why I love his laidback self so much
Dog: Maddie I recently discovered Maddie as she moved to my brother's island and boy do I lover her. She is by far one of the cutest villagers and I need her on my island
Duck: Pate I just find her quite fun to be around and she has a unique design. I have never met her but from what I know, she seems nice
Eagle: Keaton Such a cool looking eagle. I've always wanted him because he really matches his smug personality and I love his colours
Elephant: Paolo I don't know why so many people dislike him! He's such a funny looking character and he is an all round cheerful dude. Seriously underated
Frog: Jeremiah I've always thought Jermiah was a cutie and I am in love with his catchphrase "nee-deep" what's not to love about a blue frog with a squiggly smile?
Goat: Kidd This was a tough choice as I also love Nan and Sherb, but Kidd had to take this spot because he has always been such a great friend to me
Gorilla: Louie I really don't like the gorillas so I Louie just because he looks like Donkey Kong
Hamster: Hamphrey He is so darn cute! It looks like he is trying to seem intimidating but he is failing terribly
Hippo: Biff I mean can we talk about his glow up? It was amazing! I've even put him on my dreamies list because of how cool I now find his design
Horse: Elmer or Reneigh I decided to call it a tie because I think both villagers are amazing. Reneigh was my starter uchi and I love her for it and Elmer just seems cool!
Kangaroo: Rooney I really like Walt too so this was tricky but I've settled with Rooney because I think he looks like a funny blue boxer. He also seems very interesting
Koala: Ozzie Ahhhh I love Ozzie to the moon and back. Whenever I've had a bad day, I open animal crossing up, run to Ozzie and immediately feel better after I see him
Lion: Bud To me most of the lions are quite similar but I guess Bud stands out a bit. Not really a fan of them in general though
Monkey: Nana I think she's really quite a cutie with her big smile and pink coloured body. I would like to properly meet her one day
Mouse: Bettina I, like a lot of people, don't like the mice but I went with Bettina just because she is orange and that is my favourite colour
Octopus: Marina I just love everything about Marina. I mean, who doesn't? I try to steer away from popular villagers but Marina has to be an exeption
Ostrich: Sandy I think that all the ostriches are unique as they all represent different birds! But I had to go with Sandy as she has always been the sweetest to me
Penguin: Hopper I find Hopper really cool because of his funky eyebrows and angry look. He's a very fun villager to have
Pig: Hugh Not many people know of Hugh but I do and think he's awesome! He also has heterochromia and is very unique for that reason
Rabbit: Pippy She is such a sweet rabbit and I love her little freckles. She is very underrated and I wish to see more of her sometime
Rhino: Spike He visited my campsite once and I thought he looked pretty cool. His scar adds to his unique design and I think that's pretty nice
Sheep: Wendy Such a fun bubbly sheep that I love so much I bought the amiibo for. She is such a sweetheart and I think she deserves more love
Squirrel: Static How is Static not a top tier villager? I mean look at him! He's literally an electric purple squirrel. amazing!
Tiger: Tybalt He seems like a fun dude to be around. I would love to have him visit my campsite one day so I can get to know him
Wolf: Whitney I used to really love Whitney but I feel like I have drifted from her. I almost put Wolfgang there instead of her but I feel like I still like her a tad bit more

Oh this is a great question!! Here are mine:

• Alligator: Gayle. She's gorgeous, and so cute!
• Anteaters: I really don't like these villagers, but I love Olaf. I love how fluffy his tail looks!
• Bear: I REALLY dislike bears. I strongly prefer cubs to bears, but I like Tutu
• Bird: Another species I don't super care for, but Piper is cute.
• Bull: It's gotta be T-Bone. Awesome name, awesome design!
• Cat: This is a very hard choice, but I am going to go with Ankha. I love gimmick type villagers, and she's so pretty.
• Chicken: Another species I am not fond of, but I go crazy for Egbert. His name is just hilariously dorky!
• Cow: Tipper!! She seems like such a calm cutie, and I can't get over her name!
• Cub: This is another ridiculously hard choice, so many cubs can be a dreamie for me. I would have to pick Maple though, she's just so cute. But very, very close second and third are Pekoe and Judy.
• Deer: It's boring, but Fauna. She's just so damn cute. Good house design too!
• Dog: Goldie. Just a gorgeous design, for a gorgeous breed of dog.
• Duck: I am really not fond of any duck, besides Molly.
• Eagle: Sterling. The metal helmet is funny to me!
• Elephants: Tia!! She's a dreamie of mine. I love that she looks like a teapot, again, gimmicks are a go for me!
• Frog: Lily. She's cute
• Goat: Chevre shes very cute, but not a dreamie of mine.
• Gorilla: Rocket! She's great, and one of the best sisterly types!
• Hamster: Flurry moved into my original ACNH town as a random, and I fell in love so quickly. She's so adorable to me.
• Hippo: Bubbles but I don't really like any hippo
• Horse: Colton has a great, clean design.
• Kangaroo: I feel like the kangaroo species is SEVERELY lacking in terms of good looking villagers IMO. I guess Carrie.
• Koala: Melba holds a special place in my heart, as her name is a reference to Melbourne, the capital city of the state I live in.
• Lion: This is similar to kangaroo, such a bad list of options. Maybe Bud I guess...
• Monkey: UGH. I dislike monkeys so strongly. Maybe Deli if I have to choose..
• Mouse: Penelope. The bow ears are very cute, but I dislike her green skintone :\
• Octopus: Zucker is the correct choice here. He is a damn takoyaki!! A TAKOYAKI.
• Ostrich: I've honestly never put an Ostrich on my dreamie list ever. Blanche is cute tho
• Penguin: Sprinkle!! I want her in my island eventually
• Pig: Pancetti. She's cute and snobby to me, I like it.
• Rabbit: God I used to be OBSESSED with rabbit villagers. In New Leaf I had a full rabbit town. Now I don't really like them for some reason. I think Snake is the best
• Rhino: Merengue. Shes a dreamie of mine, and lives on my island!!
• Sheep: Eunice just jumps out to me. She looks so chill and calm.
• Squirrel: Marshal. He's super popular and I believe so for a reason! He's adorable.
• Tiger: Bianca. I love her colour scheme.
• Wolf: This is a super hard category for me, like the cubs, there are multiple wolves I love. But I have to pick, so I am going to say Vivian.

Alligator: Drago I often like ones that don't look like what they actually are, and Drago's a neat variation on the standard alligator. That being said, they're not my favorite villager,
Anteater: Annabelle She's not an anteater, she's an adorable pangolin- how can you NOT love that?
Bear: URSALA One of my favorite villagers of all time. Her coloring is lovely but still subtle, her face is adorable and sweet, she has super cute hair and freckles, her name is a DELIGHTFUL pun, and her whole appearance just seems like a perfect match for her personality. She DOES NOT get enough love!
Bird: Midge She's just a cutie! I had her for a long time in CF and she's just so lovable.
Bull: Coach Grabbed him off an island 'cause I needed a jock, didn't like him at first but he's really grown on me!
Cat: Merry/Tangy/Raymond You CANNOT except me to pick one cat... that's just cruel Honestly, I love all the cats except Tabby. Her face is just a little off for me.
Chicken: Plucky Added her from an Amiibo 'cause I was getting desperate to get rid of Del (who's cool, but I felt he was taking away from the glory that is Dobie) I picked her 'cause she has a beachy theme and his house was on the beach. She's really grown on me since I've added her- her expressions are just so cute, and when I say hi to her in the morning, her little tail feathers wag happily, and she's just such a cutie! Plus, I love her name
Cow: Norma Norma's just got a lovely color scheme and is so sweet looking. I have her Amiibo card and, if I was ever struggling to get a good normal girl, I'd definitely use it!
Cub: Maple Maple was literally the first villager I ever met in ANY game. I still remember seeing her and thinking "WOW I hope all the little animals are this cute!"
Deer: Beau/Erik Both are SUPER adorable with great themes! I had Erik for a long time (see my signature) but eventually let him go after getting his pic. Only pic I have so far right now
Dog: Shep I just love the hair on him! I also personally think the smug personality is charming in it's obliviousness... which, now that I think about it, works with the hair If I found him on an island I'd be 100% okay with him replacing Julian as my smug!
Duck: Molly Super cute face, pretty and subtle coloring, AND as an added bonus the same name as my best friend. Win-win-win!
Eagle: Pierce Speaking of my best friend, I'll always remember when we both picked AC boyfriends and Pierce was his. She was legit mad at me for a second when she found out he moved to my town and I "stole" him from her Plus, he's got a really nice design, and his house is really neat.
Elephant: Tucker He's a woolly mammoth. A MAMMOTH. How can you NOT love that fluffy guy? I still regret passing him up on a NM island when I wasn't looking for a lazy
Frog: Henry He just has a cool look and I love his color scheme. Puddles is a close second because, again WW memories with her!
Goat: Chevre Sherb is a close second, but I love Chevre's sweet little face. Also, I had her for a long time in WW, so I have good memories with her! I currently have her and, while I'm okay with her moving now that I have Marina, I still will always have a soft spot in my heart for her
Gorilla: Peewee I'm... not a big gorilla fan. But Peewee's name/personality makes me chuckle, and he's got a nice, simple design that isn't too weird.
Hamster: Graham/Apple Apple because she's cute, and named after my favorite fruit (IRL and in the game). Graham was my smug villager for a long time in ACNL and, even though he gets a lot of hate (which... I don't get, at all) he's super adorable and makes me hungry for graham crackers. I think I literally squealed when I got him in ACNL, he was cute, had a new personality, AND was a new species! I was thrilled.
Hippo: Rocco Not the biggest hippo fan, but I had him for awhile in a previous game... forget which (it... may've also been WW, since that was lacking features, I really focused on my relationships with neighbors in it )
Horse: Julian/Reneigh Reneigh has a cool face AND a solid pun name. But... Julian is LITERALLY a unicorn. I don't always like popular villagers, but his popularity is warranted.
Kangaroo: Carrie/Marcie/Kitt I actually really like the kangaroos (females mainly), and would love one in my game, because I'd love to put in a playground by their house... it'd be neat to have a kid on my island, and kangaroos are the only way
Koala: Melba/Gonzo Gonzo has a great face. But Melba has a super sweet face and I had her for a long time in... I want to say WW
Lion: Rex/Aziz Aziz was in just the original game, but he was my in-game boyfriend (before I stole Pierce ) so I have a soft spot for him. Rex is a cutie and the only lazy lion... which, let's be real. That's the most appropriate personality for a male lion
Monkey: Deli I'm not the biggest monkey fan, but if I had to pick, Deli. He's cute and colored like a cat.
Mouse: Rod IDK why, I just really like him. His whole look/vibe is just cute to me.
Octopus: Marina Like I mentioned before, I just got her in my game last night (first time EVER buying a villager). LIke Chevre, I had her for a long time in WW, and she's just SO cute. I still remember in WW she mentioned wanting to collect seashells so, from then on, whenever I went to the beach I would find her shells. Her house was a mess soon enough but it was worth it
Ostrich: Julia Phoebe is a close second (phoenix!) BUT Julia is a peacock. I love peacocks in RL, always buy clothing with peacocks on it, etc. Also, she's technically colored like a male peacock, and you could make a case she's an LGBT+ villager because of it, and I'm all about that representation. I'm still hoping I find her in my game! Blanche is pretty too, though, I had her for a long time in NL and she was a big help in that Deserted Island mini-game in it.
Penguin: Hopper/Sprinkle Sprinkle 'cause she's cute and somehow makes me crave cupcakes. Hopper because all the Hopper love I've seen on this forum has worn off on me
Pig: Peggy Just a cute, simple pig. But, at the same time, she's peppy... and she just strikes me as a country girl who dreams of stardom, and that's ADORABLE.
Rabbit: Bonbon Something about her face is just really nice... it feels different from any other villager face, and looks like someone put some real thought into it, somehow.
Rhino: Spike Not my favorite species, but I like his grizzled, scarred look.
Sheep: Vesta/Stella Stella because she's super cute and has a pretty color scheme. Vesta because... well, same, but also I had her for a long time in... actually, I think CF in her case. Or the original AC for GC. But I remember having her on a home console
Squirrel: Tasha I just love her expression, and how she's a stuck-up stunk. You'd think skunks would feel self-conscious about their stinkiness, but Tasha ain't got time for that nonsense. Though I do have a soft spot for Marshall, since he's so cute. And Nibbles because I think I had her in... well. You know at this point
Tiger: Bianca She's a super pretty snow leopard who looks ESPECIALLY lovely in ACNH (that's... a "glow-up", yes?) I've seen her on islands and have considered taking her but... I have Merry, and I won't allow another peppy gal to compete with her on my island.
Wolf: DOBIE My favorite cranky dude! He's got that cute old man look, and he just looks grumpy... but also like he has a good heart. Like, he'll complain about kids playing in his yard, but then play Santa for those same kids because he secretly loves their youthful enthusiasm.

Some of these I might pick multiples. I just like so many, but I'll give my reasons.

Alligator: Del or Drago. Not a big fan of the alligators, but I wouldn't be upset to get either of these two. Del because I like his design and Drago because he's unique.
Anteater: Anabelle. Anabelle has such a cute design, I don know if she's supposed to resemble an armadillo, but I see that in her design. Antonio is a close second. Something about seeing him in the official promotions by Nintendo made me really take notice to him.
Bear: Tutu or Pinky. This was a tough one. I don't really like the bears, but I sort of like these two for the same reason. Both were villagers in my very first animal crossing game on GCN. It's a nostalgia thing.
Bird: Midge. Another nostalgic villager for me. I dislike the birds, but she was a friend as a kid.
Bull: Angus. Again, the promotions made me take notice to him and he just seems really fun to "hang out" with.
Cat: Tangy. At the moment it's Tangy. Cats are just so hard. I love Kid Cat, Kiki, Lolly, and Mitzi about the same. But Tangy is on top right now because I'm trying to get her as a "dreamie" for my island this time around. She's fun, her house is cute, she a literal orange, what more could I need?
Chicken: Goose or Plucky. Both Dreamies right now. Unpopular opinion, but I ADORE the chickens. They get way too much hate. Ava, Egbert, Ken.. I like all except for Knox. Goose has a really classic chicken design, which I think is nice. And Plucky is my all-time favorite Uchi.
Cow: Patty. In my opinion, she's too underrated and often forgotten. The normal personality is my favorite female personality, being very sweet and her house is cute too. Normally I don't like the backyard theme but something about a cow grazing on the grass makes it seem really peaceful.
Cub: Vladimir. I know I know, he's an unpopular choice. But not only is he nostalgic for me, but I think his design is fantastic. He's a short little pink teddy bear with an attitude (Cranky). I love it.
Deer: Zell. My favorite Smug. Was an OG in my New Leaf town and also my best friend in that town. Plus I think it's adorable that he likes living in luxury (his house). Love most deer though. Close seconds are Bam and Beau, but none of them top Zell for me.
Dog: Biskit or Goldie.. or Maddie. Biskit is another nostalgic villager for me. I have so many great memories of him. Goldie, I just love her design so much. And Maddie is two-fold. She's a Collie which is my favorite breed of dog. I have two of them AND she has the same name as my boyfriend (just spelled differently), which I think is really cute.
Duck: Bill. I don't really like the ducks, but if I had to choose one, it'd be Bill. He has cool coloring (maroon) and I've had him in my NL town. He's like a kid brother.
Eagle: Keaton. Honestly, I really dislike the design of the Eagle species, but I do like his coloring. He has a really tropical vibe to me. Side note, I'd love to see a classic red parrot added to the Eagles, does anyone else feel that way or just me?
Elephant: Ellie or Tia. Ellie is way underrated sweetheart and Tia is the cutest teapot elephant I didn't know needed to exist.
Frog: Lily. Had her in New Leaf and I really liked her. Her name is perfect for a frog and, again, I'm a sucker for the normal personality sometimes. I also LOVE her house design in NH.
Goat: Billy. Don't like the goats, but Iove that he's an old man. In my opinion, he's the oldest looking character in the game. Points come off for his horribly depressing house though.
Gorilla: Boone. I've never had Boone, but I would love to. He's based on a Mandrill monkey, which is not only cool, but also very unique when compared to the rest of them. I'm not a huge fan of gorillas but I really like Boone.
Hamster: Clay. Super cute design. Surprisingly, I've never had any hamsters but I love Clay's design. Hamlet is also cute and I've actually met him on my boyfriend's island, so close second, but Clay is more unique.
Hippo: Bubbles. I don't like any of them but at least bubbles has my favorite female personality.
Horse: Savannah, Papi, or Annalise: I've never had any of them. In fact the only horses I've ever had are Buck and Elmer, which are meh. I don't know which of the three I like best, but I'd love to try out all three. They're all adorable.
Kangaroo: Rooney. Not a big fan of Kangaroos. I've only ever had the female ones with the baby in the pouch but I never really liked them. I could probably get used to Rooney though. He's got a neat design.
Koala: Melba. She's adorable, love the play on her name, normal personality, and her catchphrase is "toasty". Super cute.
Lion: Rex. Arguably my least favorite species is the lions. I don't mind Rex though. He's chill. I had him in my GCN game. I'm glad they added him back to NH after taking him out of some previous games.
Mouse: Bettina. Way too underrated. She's a sweet little chef, has an adorable house, and I had her in NL where she was a good friend to me. Chadder is a close second, love that he's literally a flirty, rich piece of cheese. Can't make this stuff up.
Monkey: Delior or Flip. I really don't know why I like these two so much, but they just speak to me. I really like all monkies except Elise. Right now I have Simon on my island and he's cool, I guess he'd be my runner up.
Octopus: Marina. She's a normal pink octopus and I love her. She also reminds me of a little girl I taught how to play music with the same name. Sadly, I've never had an octopus. I also like Zucker though.
Ostrich: Cranston. He was in my NL town and I really enjoyed him there. I used to like Flora the best, but her design in NH got worse in my opinion and I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Though I love that she's a flamingo, she seems a little bland now. Phil would be a second pick, which is kind of surprising to me even. I just got him today at my campsite and I really took a liking to him.
Penguin: Hopper. I love most of the penguins: Aurora, Cube, Roald, Sprinkle, Wade... they're one of my favorite species. But Hopper stands out. I love that he is a Macaroni penguin I love that he was in the animal crossing anime, I love that he's cranky. He's my favorite penguin at the moment.
Pig: Hugh. Hugh seems like a really cool villager to chill with. His blue color is totally unrealistic and I love it.
Rabbit: Hopkins. I don't care for the rabbits very much. They're okay. I think I'd enjoy having Hopkins around though. Plus he's an inflatable pool toy.
Rhino: Merengue. She was my first island tour mystery villager. She has a strawberry horn, whipped cream head, and calls me shortcake. Too precious.
Sheep: Eunice. She's very underrated. I fell in love with her after I decorated her house in Happy Home Designer and it turned out to be one of my favorite designs. She reminds me of an old grandma who would knit by the fireplace on a cold wintery night, which is such a cozy vibe.
Squirrel: Filbert, Peanut, or Static. Squirrels are one of my favorite species. All three of them have been "all-time favorites" at one point. Right now filbert is a dreamie, but Peanut and Static were both in my GCN town and I loved them to pieces.
Tiger: Bangle. I didn't really like TIgers until just recently but I fell in love with Bangle. She is such a friendly tiger. Bianca is a close second. And I also love Claudia's coloring.
Wolf: Wolfgang. He has followed me in every town I ever had. He's an old friend to me. I will honestly be surprised if I don't get him in New Horizons. Close seconds are Whitney, Dobie, Chief and Skye.

Whew. Sorry for writing a book But I really enjoyed thinking through this. It made me realize I like some a lot more than I paid attention to and others not so much. My taste has changed so much since this game has come out so this was really interesting.

I know he's not the most popular and I admit Drago is close second since he's very unique, but I have an attchment to Boots, he was my first villager with Deirdre.

Anteater : Annalisa
I like that she's inspired by a japanese doll.

Bear : Beardo
I don't really like bears but I think Beardo is fun and unique, I like his old dandy vibe.

Bird : Peck
Another species I'm not found of but I like peck's colors and his small white eyes.

Bull : Rodeo
The only decent bull in my opinion, plus he looks like one and have dark tones that I like.

Cat : Kiki
This is hard there's a lot of cool cats, and I have 3 myself on my island... but Kiki, there's something with her design that clicks with me, she's a black cat and her eyes are so huge and cute, I love her.

Chicken : Benedict
I like his red color and big eyebrows.

Cow : Naomi
She's underrated in my opinion, her colors are beautiful and she's quite sultry for a cow. One of the best Snooty.

Cub : Vladimir
His face makes me laugh, plus the fact that he's a little pink cub and a cranky at the same time ! I really like Chester too he's so cute it was hard to choose between those two.

Deer : Deirdre
She's my favorite villager. I love her tones, love her house, love her forest/autumn vibes, love her personality. (There's a lot of awesome Deers though)

Dog : Cherry
I'm a Cat person lol but Cherry's punk design is great I have to admit, she's badass. Shep is great too, he seems sweet and fun.

Duck : Scoot
He's so cute with his helmet, and I love his green color. Ketchup and Joey are also uber cute.

Eagle : Apollo
Don't really like the species, it lacks of cool design in my opinion, Apollo is a classic and Amelia is nice too.

Elephant : Cyd
My favorite male villager, he's so unique, love his punk design, his red color, his shady eyes. He's so cool ! Tucker needs more love also.

Frog : Croque
He's a cranky daruma frog ! But I really like the sweet colors and design of Lily too !

Goat : Billy
He's a old messy librarian, he's cute. I also love Sherb and Chevre. I like goats a lot, even if I don't have one on my island :°(

Gorilla : Hans
He's a Yeti. Gorilla are meh...

Hamster : Clay
He's unique I like him, and I like pottery.

Hippo : Biff
He seems angry with his big eyebrows he's fun ! I also like Bertha.

Horse : Roscoe
His red eyes and black color are a nice contrast. He stands out. But Papi is really cute and unique too !

Kangaroo : Walt
Simple and cool samurai design.

Koala : Lyman or Eugene
I can't choose they are so different but I love them both. Eugene because he's rock and unique, and Lyman is cute with great colors.
Gonzo is a cute old man too.

Lion : Elvis
Same as Eagles, I want more of them because I don't really love any of them. I chose Elvis because I knew him for a brief moment on my island.

Monkey : Deli
Those eyes, his dumb smile, so cute !

Mouse : Rod
He's a cute sailor and has a great vibrant purple color.

Octopus : Zucker
One of my favorite villagers, he's a takoyaki, so unique and cute !

Ostrich : Flora
She's my actual peppy, beautiful pink flamingo, very unique and fun.

Penguin : Hopper
He's the most original of the penguins, his eyes and eyebrows are super cool.

Very meh species... Agnes is cool, plus she's a sisterly and I love them.

The ultimate snooty, Jessica AND Roger Rabbit vibes all in one lol, she's sultry and badass. (there's a lot of awesome bunnies)

Rhino : Renée
She gives me badass and angry schoolgirl vibes and I'm here for it, she's almost a fighting game character lol

Sheep : Vesta
I love her, her simple face and night vibes. She's unique.

Squirrel : Hazel
She's the hipster and sporty cool girl. I love her unibrow !

They're a bit boring I guess... We need more choices. Rolf is a white tiger and a cranky so he wins.
