I feel like mine has to be lazy, smug being a close second. Lazy is basically me... I love sleeping and they talk about food a lot, and I love to eat if I'm not feeling depressed. Besides that, my favorite villager, Punchy, is a lazy villager personality as well. Besides those two, I do like the deep voices of cranky though, but I'm going to stick with lazy as my favorite personality.
Smug, they are just sooo cool! They are the essence of mystery and romance! Haha, but seriously they are dorks, but in an adorable way! They're one of the friendlier villager personalities too, which is saying something, because in New Leaf pretty much everyone is! That said, I think I love all personalities except Uchi maybe? I still like uchis but I feel like they're a hit or miss if that makes sense haha.

For girls it's the peppy villagers, although a lot of people find the peppy villagers annoying. But my favourite villager is a peppy, which is why they quickly became my favourite personality type. I love how cheery and ridiculous they can be sometimes, each and every day. They have a lot of interesting stories to tell I feel, and they're easy to befriend. Ruby the peppy rabbit was my first villager picture actually. For boys, it's the cranky villagers. More so the old cranky villagers in wild world, I liked the challenge of befriending them and eventually having them warm up to you. I loved that once you were friendly with them they'd treat you like a little sister/brother, and try to give you wise advice. I still love them now, although I wish they weren't always so friendly. :<
The snooty type has always been my favorite personality. I just really enjoy how they never held-back in their dialogue. If you made them mad, they’d let you know. If they hated what you were wearing, they’d let you know. I just found their blunt-ness to be entertaining.
I also just really enjoy their elegant-esque(for the most part) appearance.
My favorite will always be cranky. I fell in love with crankies back in the original GC game when they were much harder to befriend. I loved the challenge and, once you did befriend them, they were the best friend ever. Even now that they're watered down, they're still my favorite. Plus, that deep voice is just so adorable.
Some villagers just work better as their character! Like, when Anabelle is a peppy I'm like "you go girl!" but I didn't like Apple very much so I was like "calm down sweetie" - similarly, I like Whitney being snooty but when it's a Snooty I don't like, I'm just like "um excuse you".
Although that said, all of the characters are more easily digestible than their Wild World versions.. Someone commented it's all because they're kissing up to the mayor (versus previous editions when you were just a normal villager) and that made so much sense xD
My favorite female villager would have to be normal and male villager would have to be lazy. The reason why I love those two personality's is because Mitzi, who is a normal villager, was my first villager I ever met when I first started playing Animal Crossing and Stitches, who is a lazy happens to be one of my dream villagers.
