too many good games are spliting vote and wind waker is winning (worst of the best i hate cel shade games and did not find it to be one of my favs ) not on list is Minish Cap or Link between worlds both which are good.
Majora's Mask is by far my favorite Zelda game. Wind Waker was pretty good, but I never finished it, and I haven't played it in a while. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get into Ocarina of Time, and eventually I just stopped playing it. I've never played Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess.
Despite the fact that I played Twilight Princess as my first Zelda... I don't like it as much as before because it was just over the top. I don't want to spoil everything here... but Zant went from a great villain to something absolutely pathetic...
My favorite 3D Zelda is Majora's Mask because it's the only game that really plays with the time unlike Ocarina which used a gimmick and everything you do in Majora's Mask seems to have an impact. You may think you lose your progression but it's just so well done. You keep track of what you've done, the masks add a lot to the gameplay and riddles (especially with the last temple) and the subtle narration made me appreciate most sub-characters. Oh and this feels much more like the ultimate quest for Link because he seems to be aware of his potential as a warrior or a savior. He's ready to face evil but will deal against something far more dangerous that he could've imagined: friendship.
1) Majora's Mask - the world, the idea of the 3 day time cycle, the soundtrack, the characters, the themes, and the design make this the number one 3D zelda game, and for me the number one zelda game overall. The only con is that there aren't many as many dungeons. The mask transformations also set it apart from other zelda games and the idea of transformation hasn't really been touched since. It was touched a little in Wind Waker with being able to control Medli and Makar but there's something about the transformation part of the gameplay that makes it different and better than the other titles.
2) Ocarina of Time - this is a classic and it's well deserving of being known as one of the greatest games of all time. It set the path for many adventure games that followed, and still holds plenty of replay value to this day. It also sets the stage for Majora's Mask and its themes of becoming an adult. And Majora's Mask is one of my favorite games but it wouldn't exist without this title having come before it.
3) Skyward Sword - I liked this one, despite seeing many people here having a different opinion. To me, this is the hardest of the 3D zelda games (hero mode) and for that reason it beats out Wind Waker in what might have been a #3 tie for me. The use of the wii is better in this game than in TP and the dungeon designs are some of my favorite. Both in terms of layout and artistic design.
4) Wind Waker - I agree with what somebody said earlier in the thread: the great thing about wind waker is that it feels much more free than any other game. A lot of people complain about the ocean being too cumbersome to navigate but I found it relaxing. Only con is that it was a little too easy.
5) Twilight Princess - I like its graphics better than any other zelda game, but it was way too easy and some of the dungeons were forgettable and bland. Unlike Majora's Mask it also had to force itself to come off as dark at times and for me this made it feel contrived. Still a great game despite being my least favorite 3D zelda title.
Voted on this a while ago but didn't give my opinions. Here they are:
1. Wind Waker: First Zelda and best Zelda. Don't really need to give more reasons.
2. Skyward Sword: I like it even though other people don't or haven't played it. Motion controls were strange a few times but still really good.
3/4. Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess: Both have open worlds with a gimmick that was... meh. I liked OoT because it had SO MANY DUNGEONS! I liked TP because the items were really interesting. (SPINNER!!!)
5. Majora's Mask: Have never beaten it because of stupid Stone Tower temple. I've seen the rest of the game, and I'd probably say it's slightly worse than the above 2. All are good!
Phantom Hourgass and Spirit Tracks can leave. Least interesting Zelda games I've beaten.
It's actually kinda hard to choose between all of them, except I don't like MM so.
But Twilight Princess; prolly 'cause it was my first Zelda game I've ever played and I've played through it so many times and enjoy it each time. It's such a good game c:
1st Ocarina of time because it was the first zelda game i ever played
2nd majora's mask because i like the dark theme
3rd twilight princess because it tried to be dark like MM but it couldn't
4th wind waker because i haven't played much of it
and i haven't play skyward sword
