Do you like New Vegas or Fallout 3 better? I didn't play any earlier than these, but Fallout 3 is the reason I got a PS3 and I'm picking it back up now! So I would probably say I like Fallout 3 more as its also closer to where I live

Any fun memories or weird occurrences to talk about?

I prefer New Vegas. I like the companions and quests more. But Fallout 3 had a more exciting plot. Tranquility Lane was simply put one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. But Black Mountain, Jacobstown, and New Vegas, Victor, Yes Man, Wild Wild Wasteland and the DLC are all what I love about New Vegas. Dead Money is seriously my favorite dlc that I've played. I'm going to get a gaming PC for the inevitable Fallout 4. Don't know if I have any funny experiences, but guiding Sticky to Big Town was funny when he would die in various ways

I've said it in other threads, but I like NV more. It's less broken, it feels more like the original games, and it is actually based on the original FO3 plans (back when Black Isle was still the developer for it).

Also Old World Blues is my favorite thing about it. Some nice difficulty paired with bizarre dialogue.

I like the hidden background stories in New Vegas and it's DLC. Fallout 3 was a lot of fun but it was pretty meh story-wise.

Just waiting for the announcement this year. Beth is finally going to E3 and they'd be insane not to mention it, even if it isn't close to being done.

Yeah, Vegas had great story but I didn't like the menu systems and such.

Would be cool if they did :3

I'd say 3 has a much better atmosphere and sense of immersion. While, NV has better combat, and better story.

I love Fallout. I own all of them - including the PS2 spin-off that nobody except my sister and I seemed to enjoy, lol - and of all of them, I haven't played 2 or Tactics yet.

3 was my favorite of those two, and I'm really disappointed that it doesn't run so well on PC anymore. :(
I'm almost tempted to buy a PS3, or send in my 360 for repairs -- again.

New Vegas makes a pretty decent substitute. Don't get me wrong, I love them both, they both have their ups and downs for me. For example, NV had better DLC, but while NV had more quests, I preferred the quests and their locations in 3.
At the end of the day, I just preferred exploring 3's wasteland to NV's desert. The towns were more spread out than NV, which was all centralized around Vegas ofc, which made it more enjoyable to explore the entire map. Not to mention you were paid very well for doing so, and their were the bobbleheads to find and vaults to explore. Which was another thing for me, the vaults in the Virginia/Maryland area had much better back stories than the ones stuffed into NV.

tl;dr. The exploration is what pulls me in in open-world/sandboxy games, and in that regard, 3 > NV.

I preferred New Vegas, while my partner loves 3. I keep meaning to track down 1 and 2 but never following through with it... too lazy, honestly.

New Vegas had Cass so hands down it's my favorite. She was such a great companion... would've gone for Lyons if I wasn't a horrible thieving POS in all the Fallout games >.> I think in 3 I had Jericho and/or Charon but didn't feel really attached to either of them.

If you don't mind owning them digitally, they're on Steam. They need a fix to run on newer systems, but if you poke around the internet a bit you can find stuff like unofficial HD patches and whatnot for them.

I think the major reason I absolutely love 3 more than New Vegas is because I live in the DC area so all the stuff is familiar ;)

I prefer New Vegas because it feels similar to Fallout 1 and 2 which I love. Fallout 3 isn't even comparable in terms of writing and there are a ton of invisible walls and a reliance on subway tunnels to get around. New Vegas also had a bunch of people from Black Isle, devs who created Fallout, work on the game and it clearly shows.
