I couldn't find a topic about this, so I figured I'd make one.

I love this series. I just got Fallout 3, and I've played New Vegas. Fallout 3 is awesome, because I live in the area and I love seeing all the little references to areas that I know about.

I'm a big fan of fallout 3 100% it on 3 platforms.. Can't wait for fallout 4.
also Anyone can add me on steam if they wish Bootie[MMGN] is my steam name :)

I'm also a big fan of Fallout. I managed to play a little bit of Fallout 2 on my computer a while back, but I never finished it.

and I've played through 3 and New Vegas so many times I can't even remember the number. I enjoyed 3 more than New Vegas because of the area too. lol
I loved seeing the places and knowing where they are in real life having visited them. Can't wait for 4 to come out. Though I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they heavily implied that it would take place in the Mojave as well, just not the New Vegas area.

I am a huge fan of the Fallout series. My favorite of course is Fallout 3. Although I played Fallout New Vegas, it just....didn't have that much replay value in my opinion. I did like it's downloadable content more than Fallout 3s though. I just loved the people I met throughout the wasteland and the story for Fallout 3, although short, was in my opinion very sweet.

Gallows, I really hope it's not around the Mojave :( I didn't like the Mojave very much, it was just....dull. I'm extremely excited for Fallout 4 either way and when it comes out, you probably won't see me on the forums for a while lol I don't know if it's true but did I hear that Three-Dog will possibly be in Fallout 4?!

I hope it isn't either. It's funny, because pretty much everywhere in Fallout is going to be a wasteland. But the mojave somehow managed to make a barren wasteland even more boring.

I'd like for it to be back on the east coast. Maybe not DC but somewhere that there isn't just miles of sand and rocks.

I heard that 4 is gonna take place in the Commonwealth, near Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

I heard that too. It seems most probable actually. Especially with the rumors of three dog coming back into the scene. I'm just curious what the story is going to be like.

I hated the Mojave because it was dull. I wanted buildings, and towns, roads that were littered with places to explore around them but the Mojave just didn't do that. I am an explorer when it comes to sandbox like games. I understand that its a desert and that stuff isn't really possible if you want to keep it...."realistic". Don't get me wrong, the Fallout New Vegas had its pros such as the capability to use different ammo and customize your weapons (awesome, I'd love to see that in Fallout 4) but those gimmicks weren't enough to make me want to play through multiple times.

Yeah. New Vegas's problem was that it was mostly just a flat expanse of land.

I hadn't heard about it taking place in MA, that's pretty great. I did know about 3Dog coming back, saw his tweets about going in and doing some voice acting for them.
Also, do you think they'll be using the Skyrim engine or a completely new one for Fallout 4?

Apparently they'll use the Skyrim one, though I'm not sure. I hope that if it's in the MA area, that either the full game or one of the DLCs will feature New York City, preferably near the Statue of Liberty, if it wasn't hit bit a bomb (which, if it was, wouldn't surprise me)

The Mojave was nice, but I mean, the main problem I had was that it didn't seem TOO apocalyptic. I mean, a good chunk of the area was still in shape, as compared to the Capital Wasteland, which had a very healthy amount of destruction.

On a side note, in FO3, the Germantown Police HQ is close to the Paradise Falls slaver camp, which happens to be in a strip mall. The real life Germantown police station happens to be relatively close to a strip mall where I work at. >.>

That's pretty crazy. lol

It's pretty accurate. I wish they would have gone a little more westward and included parts of my state. =p

One of my favourite quest was saving those kids at paradise falls. And getting that slaver gun I forgot the name but putting collars on everyone was funny as! :D

I didn't mind fallout NV.. It wasn't my favourite. But I did finish it on hardcore mode which honestly I enjoyed trying to keep my fluids and food etc up.. Enjoyed making doctors bags etc

I can't seem to play NV without putting it on hardcore. If I don't have a constant need for food, water, doc bags/hydra, and sleep. Then it feels like the game is on easy mode and becomes ten times more boring for me. I really hope that Fallout 4 has a hardcore mode as well.
Gives a good reason to put skills into medicine and survival.

I like RPing my Fallout characters as wasteland doctors. The hardcore aspect appealed to me amazingly in that sense. When I broke something I couldn't just pump myself full of stimpacks and be all better, I actually had to have a doctor's bag or hydra(I had so many characters addicted to hydra.)
and my followers could die. That made me play the game so much differently. Instead of running in on a gang of super mutants with a plasma defender I was forced to stick back and use stealth and weapons I normally wouldn't have used.
But when I want a character that goes all in I don't put on hardcore. lol

I hope Fallout 4 also has a hardcore mode. It makes you REALLY need to think about what you are about to do and I love how challenging it could get sometimes. One thing I will never do in hardcore again is make my character a brawler with less than amazing agility lol I couldn't run to even catch up to people who were shooting me or were scared of me.

My current Fallout 3 character is a brawler. I found a sledgehammer, my melee weapons skill is around 60, and I can pretty kill most humans in three hits.

So for Fallout 4, what do you think our character's little back story will be?

I could see them doing the vault dweller thing again, but I'm hoping for something different. lol

I want something different. I love the vault dweller thing but they can't do it again or it will let a lot of people down. No one likes recycled story ideas.

Maybe you are someone important (a head honcho of some sort) who's been shamed and has to get your reputation back. Doubtful but who knows.

Or maybe you were just some wastelander who was in the wrong place at the wrong time....but that's too much like the courier thing isn't it?

Maybe we are an escaped slave or are a slave at the beginning and then there is a huge riot in which we have our chance to escape lol This is my favorite idea so far.

The slave thing would work.
