What's the best thing to do with excess items that I don't want/need?

I have a pile of fossils for example. I read that they don't go up with the Premium items so is it just best to sell them to Reese or what?

I also have furniture/clothes/ore but I sell those when they're up as Premium items.

Thanks!

It's better to just sell them to Reese, but you can also do a trick where you can put certain fossils (not including ones that involve being put on that brown podium such as the dinosaur egg) for 9,500 in retail using the flea market option and then you push villagers around until they do that surprised emotion infront of the fossil you want them to buy, and they'll buy it.

You can put the fossils (make sure they're assessed) up on the flea market for up to 9,999 bells and villagers will buy them.

You can also put it up for sale on the Re-tail thread. Sometimes other players will be looking for fossils.
I gave away 50+ un-assessed fossils and I think 9 assessed ones the other day. And today I gave away 17 un-assessed fossils.

I also have a lot of furniture that I need to get rid of. (there was a day where furniture was on premium so I'm trying to TT to that day lol)

You can put them on the flea market: this works especially well for fossils.
Or- if your other excess items are rare, selling them on the forums is quite good. Otherwise, just sell them to Reese.
