I just want to put this here, because it's me and I'm known for random posts

Yeah, your town might have a forest theme like the 3 billion other people who play but it's still unique because it's yours.

I sound like a fortune cookie. Just some words of wisdom for a person who can't stop restarting their town.

Thank you so much! All of your posts may be a little random, but they are all so sweet!

aww ty for saying this- i know a lot of people (including me!) have this fear of making a town that is too "basic"

this kind of sucks because it deters people from making the foresty, magical towns they want to have, and it stops people from picking villagers like marshal and merengue and julian for fear of people saying their towns are too common. i think that even though some town themes are more common, that doesn't mean all towns of that theme are the same. the way each person puts their own charm into their town is what makes it great, not the theme itself.

hopefully people realize that it's okay to not pick the most obscure town aspects just so they can avoid being like other people and be more unique.

You're welcome. :)

Yeah, no one's town is the same, regardless of whether the theme is the same. Because everyone who plays this game have our own styles and visions of how we want our towns,Just having a fire hydrant in a forest town makes your town unique. No one is going to think or decorate their town the same way as you, whether it be a modern, fairy tale, zen forest theme or otherwise. Unless they are like mind readers or something, which would be creepy.

Agreed!! Play for yourself not others. :)
It's your town , make the best of it and have fun.

Oops, I wish I would've seen this 3 days ago because I just restarted my town because it was, imo, too basic. I loved it but it just felt the same as everyone else. So that was a mistake but now I'm going for a modern town. :)

Thank you for posting this.

I was about to trash the concept I'd come up with for my town because I found out someone on Tumblr had given their mayor the same name as mine. Seeing this makes me realize how silly that would have been.

You are the sweetest!

I think it's so important to not compare your town to others, which is super hard! I use others as inspiration but I know mine will always be different because we aren't clones! I can't wait to put my own personality into a forest town! It's nice to be reminded that it's okay to have similar themes :)

How true... No two towns are really the same. But oftentimes I see many trends in town building that feel incredibly similar:

-A 2x2 path surrounded primarily by bushes.
-Floods of flowers on every space available.
-Many villagers chosen for popularity rather than actually liking them.
-Villagers either randomly allowed to move anywhere, or just forcefully plotted in a long line of homes.
-Rooms bearing only one series of furniture without adding any individuality nor with blending other furniture with them.
-The desire that a town must have an orchard somewhere, just for its own sake.

Note that I don't care about the chosen theme in any town. It can be as pastel pink and have everything as Kawaii as you want you want it to be, like any other similarly themed town! However, I care a lot about innovative design, and the ability to look into the value of all options in the game. Being able to look past the design gimmicks and thinking creatively is the true key to innovation, regardless of town theme.

That's really sweet and we definitely need more players like you!! Just because there are a bunch of foresty or pink towns doesn't mean you should diminish someone's hard work just cause you find them "cliche" lol. A cliche is a cliche because it works. No town is exactly identical and are all pretty in their own ways!

You all are very welcome. Yeah, I mean it is easy to give up on a theme because everyone else seems to have it, but don't. You're town is unique because it's your own style and no one can copy your style. Even twins don't copy their own styles, at least I don't think they do.

Thanks so much for posting this. The dream suite is a lovely place to visit but it sure feels good to be Home again when I walk into town. I love my main town and would never reset it.

this is true ~
my town is still not as good as many other towns out there but I can proudly say it's my town and I love it nevertheless ^^

This is so sweet! I've always thought that my town looked so awful and basic compared to other peoples, but this makes me feel a little better about it!

I am doing a sanrio house for one of my characters but I didn't think that just stuffing a room with just the furniture set and nothing else would cut it. That's why I decided to blend two of the sets together and make it a kitchen or a bedroom. also, I'm using the kerkerokeroppi set for the bathroom.

This is so sweet. :) Reminds me of 'the Little Prince' and his rose. ^^

I agree, at the end of the day all that matters is that you are happy with your town and it shouldn't matter what others think.
Just make your town with or without a theme if you want and have the villagers you want without worrying wether they're popular or not.
