So I gave Snake the catchphrase "metal gear" a while back (I know, I'm so original *eye roll*) and I found my two peppy villagers using it! Bubbles just asked me to change it and when I saw Bunnie on main street and she had it! And I went so long without catchphrases rubbing off on each other.

You could always tell Isabelle they're using nasty language, and then she'll reset it for you.

I know the feeling. I changed Ava's catchphrase to "Cakoo" and now EVERYONE in town was saying it. I've reverted some of my dreamies back to either their original catchphrases or new ones. Its cancerous ._. Ava may have left but her impact on Windhall was devastating...

This same thing also happened with a shirt. Ava gave Beardo a shirt that she got by accident. Then he put on the ugly shirt and then in a week everyone in my town is wearing it! Its like my villagers are forming some kind of cult! Seriously Ava, not cool

My villagers use that too. Julian started using it before I even had a chance to talk to him. In my last town they said "in bed" because I'm an A+ mayor.

You should go to Isabelle and say there's a troublesome villager. When she asks you who, just select the ones who aren't Snake and are using the catchphrase and say their language is rude -- I think it sets the catchphrase to default.

I made Monty say "butthole" and like yours, it caught on. Oops. It's finally gone now, though!

I've reset villagers catchphrases before and it does go back to the default catchphrase.

Same thing happened with Chester. The person I got him from set his catchphrase to "murder me" and I asked Isabelle to reset and now he says "uh-huh".

Sydney left my town a month ago and two of my villagers are still saying "sunshine" >_<
Currently, Dizzy and Stitches are saying "stuffin'"
Dotty and Olivia are saying "sunshine" AND I NEED TO CHANGE IT HNGGGG Dotty's default is "wee one" and I love it. ;__;
The rest of my villagers still have their default sayings, I think.

I tend to give all my villagers the same catchphrase for the most part. They shared them so often I couldn't be bothered to keep changing it. So everyone says Allons-y.
I have merengue saying shortcake right now, but Zell started picking it up so hers will have to go too.
I just give them unique greetings instead now. ^^
