So I thought I would try to do some trading on Reddit since so many of the trades on here are just for NA.
I accepted a trade with somebody over there, they're in America but neither of us had issues with posting international (or so I was told). They told me they couldn't send the cards until the end of the week but as I'm new on there, I said I'd send my cards the next day.
Anyway, obviously I've not heard back since. I kept them updated on when I posted their cards and everything. I'm considering it as a loss now and I actually got one of the cards in a blind pack anyway. Just quite annoying
Probably shouldn't have sent the cards first...
Anything like this ever happened to you?

What a shame to hear! It realy sucks when that happens becuase now you are tinking twice before you trade again. I once had it also.

I was trading a card with some guy and like you i send it the next day as soon as i could. After a week i still had no card (we were in the same smal country). I kept e-mailing him where my card was and such. He gave me excuse after excuse. Til at one point i got fed up with it and made a police report( just for the sake of being scammed. Its a crime.) He also got an e-mail that i made a report.

He started e-mailing me like crazy saying he is sorry, the card is on its way with somthing extra. And i got the card two days after with a extra card!

When i started trading amiibo cards on here i was also a bit scared. But the comunity is great and every card arived so far. I made 12 trades already. :)

It's my own fault really, I had no problems at all on here (so far) and the wifi system helps. I just wanted more trading opportunities but I'm not going to be doing any more trades on there after this. Even Facebook is better as at least it's not anonymous...

Just a shame some people aren't honest. I know things come up in real life but I think you can always tell when it's genuine or when it's just an excuse

No, but my sympathies to you and anyone who has gotten scammed before.

Thank you, going to try not to let it put me off completely. Going to be a bit more wary in future about when I post though. We actually exchanged pictures of the cards too, I know she has them as she wrote her username on a piece of paper next to them.

Probably not going to trade cards...
IF I had cards. :p

Did you check their ratings? On Reddit, there's something called...uh, I think it's Rate My Mayor. If that person has a page set up, you can leave them a nasty review. Still though, that really sucks that you got scammed.

This is why I would never trade cards EVER. Some people are just thieves. Thankfully I don't own any amiibo cards and even if I did I would NEVER trade them.

Oh really? I didn't know that. Thank you for that, I'll go on and have a look. I think I will give them over the weekend just in case something actually did come up. I'm not holding out much hope, we were chatting perfectly well until I said I posted her cards...

Honestly I've not had any problems up until this one, I've done around 10 trades on here so far and 2 on Facebook, even posted to Australia last week.
It's either that or selling all duplicate cards on eBay or somewhere which I'd prefer not to do. I had a massive amount of welcome amiibo spares, didn't want to waste them really

reddit can be a cesspool of liars and traitors, don't waste your money there

Oh I'm staying clear from now on. And tumblr seems too confusing for me, the only time I ever used it I apparently posted wrong.
Will stick with what I know...

Trading duplicates seems fine, it's just trading a card that you only have one of is very risky. For example: If I had 2 Mitzi cards and one Bob card, I would trade one of my Mitzi cards but the other two remaining cards would never be traded as they aren't duplicates.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't ever trade cards I only have 1 of since I'm trying to collect all of them now. Most people just tend to trade duplicates I've found. Been trying to get rid of all my welcome amiibo extras, only down to 1 left out of 30 something :)
Shame 3 of them have gone to a scammer but I'll get over it I guess...once I figure out how to leave them a negative rating that is ;)

I considered trading cards with others but I decided against it. I buy from eBay. They can be costly but I would rather spend a few dollars more for villagers I truly want than get scammed. :)

The animal crossing reddit community is cancer.

Their discord server is even worse. Only sub if you want occasional AC giggles, I wouldn't ever use it for anything trading-related

I had a really bad experience on there. The mods, and the people on discord, were incredibly rude.

Same. I got banned from the server because a mod personally attacked me. I had to get an appeal and by the time I was allowed back onto the server I just decided to avoid it.

Some petty kids with some real power issues on there, imo.

All of my reddit trades have went through. I was lucky..although one guy sent his cards in an empty WA package so some of them were a little bent. At least they were just extras at that point.

I really didn't realise, I just thought it would give me more places to trade. Never again :( it's mostly NA trading that goes on over there too but with many willing (supposedly) to ship global, which is why I thought it's a good idea

I've found some Facebook trading groups that are pretty good too, also feels a bit safer there as you can usually see who you're dealing with

Yeah, to be honest belltreeforums is a pretty safe place to trade. I've just had my first trade with someone on here and it's been relatively easy, though I feel as though I've ****ed the trade up as she packaged her cards so nicely (wrapped them in tissue paper + bubble wrap, tied with a bow, cards pristine in sleeves), whilst I just packaged the cards I send with two pieces of cardboard cut out from a cereal box.. I hope they don't arrive damaged! D: (though to be honest if they do I'd probably buy the receiver of my cards a pack of cards as imbursement).

I've never traded on reddit, but from what I've seen of /r/animalcrossing I wouldn't risk it.
