Event Idea: TBT Olympics

Would you ever be interested into a TBT event where competition is like the Olympics? Basically, you’ll have some activities to do like in the TBT Fair or Camp TBT, where the members do the best earn medals. Whoever earns the most medals will get an award collectible.

Maybe? Sounds like it could be kind of fun. I'd like it more if the medals were different colors, and we could keep them as permanent collectibles. Because i love color coordinated lineups

But yeah, that could be a pretty fun event.

I do love the Olympics in real life, so I think a TBT version would be pretty exciting for me! Staff would have to be pretty clever to design online-only events that in any way mirrored real athletic categories.

Definitely sounds like it could be interesting! I’m personally very into figure skating so definitely follow the Winter Olympics closely.

Although staff may want to get creative with what they call the event if it happened, cuz the IOC is notoriously intense about their copyright power. Wouldn’t be worth risking it to literally call it an Olympics.

That could be a fun idea! And for the event collectibles that could be purchased from the shop, maybe there could be like pin collectibles since the athletes at the Olympics trade country pins with each other. Although I'm not sure what the TBT pins would be based on

I just realized something. The Olympics is a team event. TBT already has team events. However, they can organize an event like this to be different to a Camp TBT event.

I hate to be a downer but they already do this. We compete in events and can earn gold/silver/bronze trophies…that generally have exclusive collectibles tied to them.

Olympics isn’t necessarily all team events, it depends on the sport. And I mean yeah they keep track of medal count by country ultimately, but like. If you watch it more for a specific sport, that often doesn’t feel like it matters as much, at least to me. Could be interesting to have a sort of balance of team and individual events, with an overall score going to different “countries” tho

• In regards to Pokémon and Smash Tournaments, you can play multiple rounds with others. Whoever wins the most rounds within a three-day or one-week span gets a medal.
• As for other stuff like the New Horizons Photo Challenge, Count Inside the Bottle, and the Discord Trivia, only events where performance, not popularity, would be considered.

NH could still be represented here too. The obstacle course, or even hide n seek could fall into ‘medal’ territory.

It depends on what it involves. I’m up for different kinds of events especially if they have like more categories for people to win to give more people a chance to win that normally have no chance. But I’m not sure if I’d like this kind of event if what you’re suggesting is going to national pride focused.

this kinda just sounds like a camp or world championships theme and not an actual new event to me. we already compete against each other both individually and in teams during camp and tbtwc

Isn’t that what Camp TBT and TBT World Championships are already? I mean, having sports in TBT is pretty hard to implement anyway…

I think the idea is nice, but it'd have to differentiate itself pretty hard from the events we already have in order to be viable.

This is what I had in mind. Instead of points, your team would get “medals”, which only applies to the top scorers in each activity. You can still earn currency for participating, but I think scoring is different.

are "medals" not just "points" with a different name? the basis is still that winners will be able to get exclusive prizes, similarly to how events like TBTWC already work, no?
