EV Question

Before I decide to get all crazy with EV training, I want to know: How long does it take for effort points to effect my stats? I know four EVs make one stat for their particular category, but do I have to be at a particular level first?

It doesn't matter. Feel free to max out your Pokemon's EVs first before levelling it up, or level it up first before maxing out its EVs. However, it is always advisable to max out EVs first. This is because you will not run the risk of learning the wrong EVs when trying to level it up via battling.

Thanks. I tried EV training in Platinum and I wasn't seeing any significant changes in my stats. Now, I guess I'll just level up first, then EV train later.

Get some vitamins, the proper items for the wanted stat, and then head to this link and look up some Pokemon. Once you've found some Pokemon with 3 EV's on the stat that you want, go somewhere where they are common.

Once you reach Level 100, your EV stats will be shown. While you're under level 100, every time you level up it adds to that stat, or it's hidden.
