(If there's already a thread that's similar to this, I apologize)
I have gotten the error code 018-0512 a few times, and it's really frustrating! I have missed many chances of getting villagers or items, or just to visit someone for fun. I just wanted to see if there's more people who keeps getting this code and have a solution for it? (that isnt about assigning a new IP address or turning of the firewall, or something like that, because I cant do that.) Also I have never gotten error codes on Pokemon (for example) it just happens on ACNL.
I would appreciate help, because this stupid error code is destroying all the fun of ACNL online for me. :(

Found this on the nintendo website

Check our network status.

Review our Network Status page and ensure there are no service notifications related to Nintendo 3DS matchmaking services.
Power cycle your home network.

If you have been able to connect with others before, and this issue only recently started, power cycling your network may allow you to connect with others again. To power cycle your network:
Unplug the power cable from both the modem and wireless router (if separate from the modem).
After 30 seconds, plug the power cable back into your modem and wait for the lights to remain steady.
Plug the power cable back into the router and wait for the router lights to remain steady.

Place the Nintendo 3DS into your router's DMZ (demilitarized zone)*.

Placing the Nintendo 3DS in your router's DMZ will allow it to bypass your router's firewall and may allow you to connect with others. [How to]
*While Nintendo provides this information for our consumers' use, it is up to each consumer to determine what security needs they have for their own networks, and to decide how best to configure their network settings to meet those needs.

Yeah I know this error code and I agree it can be really frustrating -.-'
I usually get this error code when the weather's bad or I haven't switched off my Nintendo 3 DS/wirwless of my Nintendo 3 DS/router for a few days.
Do you restart your wifi or 3DS if you get this error code?
It might help also visiting or inviting works after a few times asking porter without restarting anything...
