How do I overcome this?
Its ruining my online gaming experience....

Okay so close animal crossing an return to the home menu
Switch off the wireless switch
Shutdown 3DS
Go into system settings and delete your existing connection
Turn on wireless switch
Create a new connection using manual setup
Reenter the necessary information
Click test connection
Fire up animal crossing

See if this works

I used to experience this. Sometimes, resetting your router/modem and your 3DS helps. Or if it doesn't, try entering the internet settings in your 3DS manually.

This happened/happens to me a lot too. Are your 3DS and game updated? If they are, try the things people suggested above. If that doesn't work, search for the error on Nintendo's site, they have a step-by-step guide to changing your router's settings to get rid of that error.

I tried this and it didn't quite work... I'll try it again later when I go to bed.

Hey, did you try looking on Nintendo's site? They have trouble shooting pages. But it basically said that it's caused by your network firewall, or possibly the person you're trying to connect with's firewall... I think. It gets confusing often lol.

I had this error once back a few months ago but I just reset my router and afterwards it worked again. I'm not exactly sure what causes it to occur sadly. =\

I have this one sometimes too. xc I just keep on trying to open the gates/leave the town until it works, this takes +5 minutes :-: You can also try to restart your connection, that usually helps but I'm too lazy to do it XD Whether my game or my 3DS are updated so that can't be a problem c:
