Error 018-0510

Dear friends,
I have Animal Crossing for 1 day now. I live in Europe, so I have the game early.
When I want to go online I get an error: 018-0510
I can get a DLC item from the post office and I can see the town list of people who I can visit. When I want to visit the town the game (Monkey, I forgot his name) tells me the train will arrive soon. And then the error shows on my touchscreen.
Can somebody help me?

I do have WIFI, I can send letters and receive DLC from the post office.

Not sure, but there are a few people mentioning problems with the Wifi system. One thing's for sure, it's on Nintendo's end.

I googled the error but there were absolutely no matches so I'm sorry I can't help you more . You're not alone though, hope I don't have any problems

If you got the game early, perhaps Nintendo's servers for multiplayer aren't online yet? Not sure.

That wasn't the case with the NA version anyway because Justin got his game early and he was able to visit someone's town before June 9th.

I can't figure it out. I can get DLC from the post office to so... it can't be the servers. WiFi is such a big thing in ACNL. It makes the game so much better.

I followed the steps to put my 3ds into the router's DMZ and I finally got to play multiplayer once!

...for all of one minute before being dc'ed.

Since then I've been getting the same error code as before like nothing happened. Is my 3DS faulty?

This has been happening to me too - I tried all the fixes listed on that support page (manually entering IP address and putting DS into router's DMZ) but still nothing. I either can't connect at all, or will get to my friend's town/my friend will get to my town and it'll get the error in less than a minute. All the other online features, including AC ones like best friend chatting etc, work, so it isn't my wifi. I really want to know why Nintendo aren't dealing with this as so many people are having the problem. I emailed Nintendo explaining the situation but they just replied saying I should try the fixes on that support page, even though I told them I'd already tried them (ugh so frustrating when they don't read what you said). I don't have a landline so it will be super expensive for me to call. Has anyone been able to sort out this error?

This connection problem is not on our ends as I have have very good wireless connections as I can play quite a few 1080p files on YouTube and I have been to other people's towns on Animal Crossing New Leaf in the past.
So through process of elimination, the problem must lie with Nintendo.

This problem has still not been addressed, I still receive the same error code as before. Disappointing. I'm seriously considering selling this game on.

I get this too its totally random, some friends I can go to their town for hours without an issue, and some I can't even get on the train to go to their town without constantly getting an error. And everything in between....like one friend I had kept trying to bring me lemons, and as soon as he would get into my town we would get an error. I'd try going there, same thing.

I've got Error 018-0510 & 018-0512. These seem to happen when I'm on less reliable connections. You may be too far from the router. Then again, I've also seen them happen for no reason. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

I usually disconnect anything else that majorly takes up wifi like my laptop until i'm done using wifi for AC

This is exactly what I'm dealing with. Most of my friends it works with, but one friend in particular I can never visit their town. It says the train is coming, loads for a long time, then it won't work. And I don't see it being either of our internet since we can both visit others easily. Hope this issue is addressed as well
