So I tried to look it up and was quite confused.

So I want to time travel back to regular time does anyone know what the effect of time traveling backwards are?

No matter how far you time travel backwards, it will only count as one day passing.

As far as I know, TTing backwards, no matter how many days, only counts as one day having passed. However I have heard of people claiming that villagers have moved out after they TT'ed backwards a month or so, so I haven't personally tried it in case that's true.

Yeah, as Nerakil said, there appears to be some conflicting info on the matter as some have claimed that traveling backwards a considerable period cost them villagers. The most I have TT'd backwards was a few days to go back to present day after TT'ing a villager out.

Oh I would be TT'ing like 6 months back... That scares me now....

Is there a way I could TT back and if anything happens reset it or something like maybe make a new character and change the time then?

You should be fine. Just make sure no one is contemplating moving out before you tt backwards.

It might be safer to do it when one of your villagers is in the process of moving out at the time (the one that you want out, that is). That way, you shouldn't lose anyone else since only one villager can move out at a time.

Actually that is a really good idea I will do that thanks a bunch for the help

Ok it worked I made it so Rocket was moving the next day and then TT'ed backwards and only she was gone :) Thank you so much everyone :D
