During fishing Tournament can you not have CJ craft a figure?

I have a fishing tournament today, and after talking to CJ, while he will buy my fish, I am not getting the prompt for him to make a collectible out of 3 fish.

Is it not possible to do that? Or do I need to wait until after 6 PM when the fishing tournament ends for the prompt?

I am trying to get every collectible so I cannot afford to miss an opportunity (since if I am TTing it will probably take me 30 years to complete, but better to not think of that right now to keep my sanity!!)

And the answer would be no. You also cannot sell any fish to him anymore either after the tournament is closed
